Farewell to the V8! Mercedes-AMG Final Edition models for Australia!

Large-volume eight-cylinder combustion engines (unfortunately) belong to a dying species. They are successively falling victim to downsizing in the latest petrol and diesel engines and the electrification of the automobile. Also at Mercedes-AMG is ending with a roaring V8 sound, at least on the C and E class models. The mighty eight-wheeler is now being replaced by a hybrid four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a plug-in function, which when it was first presented for Shaking his head caused most AMG fans. Well there for down Under three exclusive Final Edition models, one of which is based on the E63 AMG S 4MATIC+ (W 213) version, while the other two are attributable to the C63 S. These are available both as a coupe and open.

E63 AMG S 4MATIC+!

The sportiest luxury class sedan with the star is presented in the Final Edition in an exclusive Graphite Gray Magno paintwork, which comes from the special Mercedes-Benz manufactory series. The edition also has a carbon package on the exterior and 20-inch alloy wheels from AMG in a double-spoke design with a silver finish. Yellow brake calipers with AMG lettering round off the sporty package.

The car also has special decor on the side skirts and an AMG emblem on the C-pillar. Inside, there are AMG performance front seats for the occupants, which are covered with the finest nappa leather. They are available in either gray or black, and feature yellow topstitching as standard, creating a color contrast that we think complements the interior perfectly. There are also many shiny carbon parts in the cockpit, while the AMG sports steering wheel is covered with leather and Alcantara. However, the surcharge for the Final Edition package is a whopping 39.900 Australian dollars, the equivalent of around €27.000.

C63 AMG S Cabriolet and Coupé!

The little siblings of the E-Class are also available in Graphite Gray Magno, but have either dark gray or yellow decorative strips on the side skirts. In contrast to the E-Class, the smaller siblings come with mixed tyres, since 19-inch slippers were mounted on the steering axle, while 20-inch tires do their job on the drive axle. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also standard on this model. Just like the E63 AMG S, the two smaller models also come with the carbon package on the exterior as standard. And the interior looks similar to its big brother, but instead of shiny carbon components in the cockpit, there are matt carbon fiber parts and dark aluminum on the center console. The additional price for the Final Edition is AU$28.400 (approx. €19.500) for the C-Coupe and AUD 26.400 (approx. €18.000) for the C-Cabriolet.

4-liter V8 engines give you goosebumps!

In the C-Class models, the V8 with a displacement of four liters delivers a powerful 510 hp, while in the E-Class it even has an incredible 612 horses. The E63 generates a gigantic 850 Newton meters, while the slightly weaker little brother still achieves a massive 700 Newton meters. The E63 AMG S 4MATIC+ has permanent all-wheel drive with a rear-biased design. The C63 AMG S models, on the other hand, have to make do with just one driven axle, as only rear-wheel drive is intended for them. The sprint times from 0 to 100 km/h are between 3,2 seconds (E class) and a smooth 4 seconds (C class). In terms of top speed, both are electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Our conclusion:

  • Finally, there are three bangers that, in our opinion, should not be missing from any Mercedes collection. We will sorely miss the large-volume eight-cylinder from AMG.
