The Vantage F1® Edition is a whole new breed of Aston Martin. It is celebrating the brand's return to Formula 1® for the first time in over 60 years and establishing the Vantage as a real sports car. It is also the first production model to be directly supervised by the recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin, Tobias Moers. The new Vantage F1® Edition is a production model and is at the top of the Vantage model range. Inspired by the exciting return to Formula 1® and as a direct result of the development work of the Vantage as the official Formula 1® Safety Car, which will make its debut this month at the Formula 1® Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2021, is the Vantage F1® Edition the ultimate expression of performance and dynamism; it is the fastest and most powerful of the already sporty Vantage series.

In addition to being the most powerful, the Vantage F1® Edition benefits from unique and significant chassis and aerodynamic improvements developed by Aston Martin's experienced team of engineers. While the luxury brand's Aston Martin Cognizant Formula OneTM team prepared for a return to the grid, the engineering team behind the iconic street cars was busy developing the ultimate Aston Martin Vantage, which would play the role of an official Formula 1 safety car ® would take over.

The task set by the Chief Executive Officer, Tobias Moers, was to develop significant performance improvements, primarily determined by faster lap times, in order to successfully fulfill his role on the F1® racetrack without, however, affecting his skills on the road. In particular, this should be achieved without the use of aggressive tires optimized for the racetrack. After the desired improvements had been successfully implemented, Moers arranged for them to be integrated into the production vehicle and thus developed the new Vantage F1® Edition. The sportiest Vantage in the series program and basically a replica of the Vantage as the official Formula 1® safety car. An exciting offer for all Aston Martin customers.

The development team focused on intelligent, incremental improvements in various areas of the powertrain, chassis and aerodynamics in order to create more character, improve driving characteristics and improve its performance.

4,0-liter twin-turbo engine V8

Starting with the 4,0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, output increases by 25 hp to a new maximum of 535 hp. The peak torque remains unchanged at 685 Nm, but the peak value is kept longer in order to further increase traction and dynamics. This relentless, powerful performance has been improved even further with the revision of the 8-speed automatic transmission. It has an optimized torque cut-off when upshifting, which shortens shift times and enhances the experience of directness and precision. This torque management also improves the driver's feeling of control when downshifting, especially when braking hard, and enables finer control when the driver is moving the car at the limit of traction. Although these improvements can be felt under any circumstances and conditions, they are particularly noticeable when driving on the racetrack.

Increased rigidity, improved steering feel!

For the chassis, the team focused on the suspension and steering, with further detail changes to the underbody to increase the stiffness of the front structure and further improve the steering feel and responsiveness. Revised damper internals have increased the effective force range of the damper. This increase in area brings a noticeable improvement in vertical body control - both at high speeds and when driving over hilltops - without impairment at low speeds.

In addition to the changes to the dampers, the chassis also benefits from an increased spring rate and lateral stiffness at the rear, which improves steering behavior, increases traction (especially on bumps) and ensures that the rear is matched to the responsiveness of the front end. Further improvements to the responsiveness and - crucially - the driver's feeling have been made to the steering system, whereby the feedback from the road is transmitted more clearly, which in turn helps to develop a fine feeling for the available grip.

21 inches on the Vantage F1® Edition

After the chassis technology had been optimized, the focus was on the wheels and tires, which were increased from 20 inches as standard on the normal Vantage to 21 inches on the Vantage F1® Edition. Developed specifically for the F1® Edition with Pirelli, the Vantage has 21-inch tires for the first time ever. Similar to the other dynamic changes, the change to a tire with a lower profile provides more feedback to the driver in order to enable dynamic handling in the limit area that conveys maximum confidence even in the most extreme driving situations on the racetrack.

The increase in performance of the Vantage F1® Edition is rounded off by a comprehensive aerodynamics package that brings improvements that can be felt from the driver's seat and measured with the stopwatch. The aerodynamic changes include a full width front splitter, front dive planes, underbody baffles and - most obviously - the new rear wing. They ensure positive downforce at the front and rear, which is a total of 200 kg greater than in the Vantage at top speed, and also optimize the overall balance of the car. The rear diffuser remains unchanged, but remains a central element of aerodynamic performance that works in conjunction with the new aerodynamic features.

new equipment options and colors

The Vantage F1® Edition underscores its performance upgrade with limited but distinctive trim options and colors, including one that celebrates Aston Martin's return to Formula 1® with an Aston Martin Racing Green color scheme, that of the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team car and the official Formula 1® safety car. The exterior finish is available in both a matt and a high-gloss finish. Other color options include Jet Black and Lunar White, all of which are complemented by a solid, matte gray racing graphic. In the interior, the Vantage F1® Edition has new upholstery and panels made of leather in Obsidian Black and Alcantara in Phantom Gray, optionally with contrasting stripes and seams in Lime Green, Obsidian Black, Wolf Gray or Spicy Red.

The Vantage F1® Edition - available as a Coupé and Roadster - also features the standard vaned grille, 2 × 2 Twill carbon fiber exterior details, unique graphics, a quadruple exhaust system and a new design of the 21-inch alloy wheels in satin Black Diamond turned off.

Aston Martin's Chief Executive Officer Tobias Moers said: "Performance is at the heart of every Aston Martin, but if it has an F1® badge it has to be a truly exceptional car. The Vantage was already the most ambitious sports car in our product range, but when developing our official Formula 1® Safety Car, it had to become a real athlete: stronger, more agile, more direct and even more exciting to drive. And - of course - faster and more powerful on the racetrack. I set an ambitious goal for the development team because I insisted that the increase in performance should be achieved through real improvements in driving dynamics and not through the fitting of race-optimized tires. The results speak for themselves. A Vantage that will delight the most demanding drivers and a new model that will mark a significant moment in Aston Martin's history."

The new Vantage F1® Edition is available now at a suggested retail price of £ 142.000 in the UK and € 162.000 in Germany, with shipments beginning May 2021.
