The first 3 series in the form of the BMW E21 were launched in August 1975 as the successor to the 02 models. At that time only available with two doors, the E21 was available with a four-cylinder (M10) and from summer 1977 even with a six-cylinder in-line engine (M20). The spearhead was the 323i with the 2,3l engine (01.1978-08.1982) which produced 105 kW / 143 PS and had a modern Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Anyone who wanted more power back then had to put up with having to dig deep into their pockets because only Alpina still had an alternative in stock. With the B6, Alpina brought the first vehicle onto the market as a manufacturer that was equipped with a BMW M30 engine and 2,8 liter displacement and achieved an impressive 218 hp.
