Volvo P1800 "The Saint" - dreamlike restomod with real steam!

We have once again discovered a fantastic Restomod, which in the Speedhunter Magazine was photographed and of course should not be missing on tuningblog. Let yourself be enchanted by the spectacular renaissance of an automotive icon. The Swedish carmaker Torbjorn von Braun has managed to inherit the legacy of the legendary Volvo P1800 with an impressive restomod project nicknamed “The Saint“ to bring to life. Introduced between 1961 and 1973, the original P1800 was a masterpiece of Scandinavian design. And now he has been featured in a unique collaboration between von Brown Sports Cars and Zachau design lovingly restored and modernized. Impressively, the P1800 Saint team even includes former Volvo employees, including Pelle Petterson, the original designer of the P1800.

And the rebirth of the classic is no unique. Interested parties can provide their own P1800 model for the conversion or have Braun Sports Cars look for a suitable vehicle. Each copy is completely gutted and improved in many ways. Replacing rusty components with new ones and strengthening the transmission tunnel are just a few of the numerous improvements.

Future owners even have a choice of two body options: traditional steel or ultra-lightweight carbon. The aerodynamic design is rounded off by flush-mounted windows and an active, speed-sensitive rear wing and air brake. And the 60-inch "Lucky 70" rims, inspired by the racing cars of the 17s and 7s, are a visual eye-catcher. What's under the hood is just as remarkable: you can choose between three different engines. From a nostalgic, free-breathing four-cylinder Volvo powerplant to a free-breathing 2,4-litre Volvo five-cylinder to the 2,4-litre Volvo five-cylinder turbo (T5) that can achieve up to 750 hp everything included.

In combination with a 7-speed Getrag double-clutch transmission (DCT) and a Sellholm tuning differential, "The Saint" enables a driving experience in a class of its own. And the chassis is also completely custom-made and includes, among other things, double wishbones front and rear, adjustable Öhlins Road & Track coilover dampers and an electronically adjustable anti-slip function at the rear. The whole thing is rounded off by a speed-controlled or, if desired, manually adjustable power steering.

the cabin now has a lot of modern technology

And in the interior, too, every detail has been lovingly worked out. Although the design remains largely true to the original, the driver can expect state-of-the-art comfort. Sport bucket seats, a two-spoke carbon steering wheel, new interior trim in leather and visible carbon, and a multitude of technological improvements are included. Even state-of-the-art soft-close doors, keyless entry, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, interior LED lighting, wireless inductive charging and power windows are included, creating an atmosphere of luxury and sophistication.

Furthermore, "The Saint" features a bespoke audio system with high-quality hardware from Scan-Speak and Helix, such as in the form of six loudspeakers and a subwoofer. However, it's not just the distinctive look and luxurious comfort that sets the P1800 Saint apart. If desired, it also enables impressive performance data. Depending on the configuration, the car only weighs between 970 and 1100 kg. The performance ranges from 250 to an unbelievable 750 hp. With a top speed of over 260 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 in just 3 seconds, "The Saint" sets standards in this segment.

not just a tribute to a classic

The Volvo P1800 "The Saint" is not only a tribute to a classic, it also embodies the harmonious fusion of history and modernity. It combines Scandinavian elegance and class with innovative technology and outstanding performance. The Restomod is a testament to how true masterpieces can be created under the influence of passion and craftsmanship. One thing is certain, The Saint will carry the spirit and excitement of the iconic Volvo P1800 into the hearts of a new generation of car enthusiasts.
