VW Atlas Cross Sport GT Concept - fitness program for the colossus.

In this country not officially available, and therefore rarely found, the VW Atlas is the flagship of Volkswagen's SUV models. Larger than the Touareg, but cheaper, it tries to make the VW brand more popular in the USA. He succeeds surprisingly well, because the model has established itself well in SUV-crazy America and is receiving an elaborate one for the 2022 model year Faceliftto remain attractive to customers. In addition, Volkswagen is currently trying with sporty concept cars, which not only include this Atlas Cross Sport GT, but also the Arteon Big Sur and the Tao's base camp (see end of post), above all to lure young and tuning enthusiastic customers in the USA into the showrooms.

Sports SUV with lowering.

One would like to polish up the somewhat staid and dusty image in order to continuously expand its market share overseas. As is well known, this can best be managed with new, sportier models, which bring a breath of fresh air to the portfolio. For many SUV fans, it may seem completely crazy, a Lower the SUV, but that's exactly what VW did to give the giant Atlas a sportier look.

This was done with the help of a modified wheel suspension from ST with lowering springspushing the crossover closer to the asphalt. Thus, the terrain characteristics, which were hardly present anyway, are of course completely history. The rims on the VW Atlas Cross Sport GT Concept come from the German tuner ABT Sportsline, and listen to the model name HR Aerowheel. They are 22 inches in diameter and have an eye-catching and extroverted design and feature YOKOHAMA ADVAN Sport V105 tires equipped. One lives behind the rims Tarox Racing brake system with eight-piston fixed calipers, which ensure that the Atlas comes to a safe stop despite the increased performance.

All chrome parts were also replaced by black partsto round off the sporty appearance of the colossus. Last but not least, the atlas was published in Kingfisher blue, a special color that is normally only available for selected models in Europe. If the concept car is turned into reality, Volkswagen should surely win many new fans in the USA.

Sporty, comfortable interior.

In the interior were Recaro sports seats that have elements in the color kingfisher blue. The belts and the Automatic selector lever held. It's a little gag Golf ball design of the selector lever knob, which is reminiscent of older Golf GTI models. Even in the rear the same Recaros were installed that also accommodate the driver and front passenger. So the rear passengers can also enjoy the sportiness of the car and at the same time a high level of comfort.

A 2-liter TFSI provides propulsion.

The well-known 2-liter turbo gasoline engine with the development code EA888, which is used in many models of the VW Group, also performs in the Alta's Cross Sport GT Concept his service. In this model, the engine is doing 300 PS, and is coupled to a seven-stage DSG transmission. All four wheels are of course driven. We don't know whether the giant is a driving dynamics miracle, but we assume that the longitudinal dynamics are much more pronounced than the cornering abilities. Such a vehicle is designed for straight motorways rather than winding country roads.

Our Conclusion to this VW Altas Cross Sport GT Concept:

To be honest, we're a little undecided, because on the one hand we think the vehicle is cool, but on the other hand we don't see the point of a lowered SUV five meters long and two tons curb weight. Of course, we also have a picture gallery ready for you, and as always you can find it at the end of the article.
