Electric workhorse - the new VW e-Crafter is coming

Volkswagen goes with the e-Crafter to a new area. With him, the Lower Saxony want to reach customers who currently use other offers. In addition, the development of this vehicle is a response to customer needs and legal requirements. Because of the high exhaust emissions, it is no longer possible to transport all vehicles to inner cities, as badges are required. Many vans do not get these, which is why they are no longer the right choice for companies. With the VW e-Crafter, however, a trouble-free achievement of all destinations in cities is ensured. However, the Group has to prevail against strong competition. The Post and Mercedes have already placed models on the market, which have aroused great interest.

the initial situation

This project is a high priority for Volkswagen and customer satisfaction is the focus. That's why the people in charge contacted 150's largest customers. They wanted to know exactly how their wishes and ideas are. There were almost 1500 interviews and discussions. In this way, the knowledge about user behavior has improved. The group uses the feedback to improve the product. The VW e-Crafter is therefore a model that is designed for use in real life and not a theoretical study that scores top marks in labs. The use of electric vehicles relieves the environment. Also, these companions move quietly, which is why there is a reduction in the noise. Traveling through environmental zones is also no problem for the owner. But other providers have a big lead in this area. VW goes a new way and focuses precisely on customer needs. The company found that the average daily distance of the prospective customers is 70 kilometers and they perform between 50 and 100 stops. The wagons return 87 percent of the way in the city center and transport about 870 kilograms of goods.
