The new eighth generation Golf continues to pick up speed. After the GTI, GTE and GTD, Volkswagen is presenting the next highlight of the sporty Golf models: the new Golf GTI Clubsport. With it, the brand is continuing the tradition of the high-performance GTI: the first Golf GTI Clubsport was launched in 2016 for the 40th birthday of the sports car icon. Now follows with the new Golf GTI Clubsport, a modern compact sports car that impresses not only with its high engine power, but also with a new level of driving dynamics.

With the world premiere of the new Golf GTI Clubsport, Volkswagen is writing the next chapter in successful Golf history. The 221 kW (300 PS) Clubsport is the new top model of the eighth Golf GTI generation. With its further developed turbo engine, a completely networked chassis as well as the “Nürburgring” driving profile for the legendary Nordschleife, which was implemented for the first time, the Golf GTI Clubsport marks a new milestone in terms of driving dynamics among front-wheel drive sports cars.

noticeable performance advantages

Outstanding driving dynamics. Many details of the Golf GTI Clubsport have been further developed. This also includes the even more agile turbo engine (EA888 evo4) with now 221 kW (300 PS) and 400 Nm torque, as well as the sports suspension equipped with a new driving dynamics manager. Already in the new Golf GTI, a new driving dynamics manager networks the control of the electronic differential locks (XDS) and the transverse dynamic components of the optional electronic damper control DCC. That alone ensures noticeable performance advantages. In the new Golf GTI Clubsport, the standard electromechanical front axle differential lock is now integrated into the network of the driving dynamics manager for the first time.

Karsten Schebsdat, Head of Driving Dynamics, Steering and Control Systems at Volkswagen: “By networking all driving dynamics systems, the new Golf GTI Clubsport can be driven even more neutrally and more precisely than the classic Golf GTI. We have also programmed a new "Nürburgring" profile for the legendary Nordschleife, with which the chassis components of the new Golf GTI Clubsport are specially tailored to this racetrack. "

standard on 18-inch alloy wheels

A real club sport. You can tell at first glance that the new Golf GTI Clubsport also feels at home on the racetrack: its individualized front section is very distinctive. The bumper appears to be more or less open towards the bottom - only the honeycomb grille paneling typical of the GTI models and enlarged aerodynamic wings opposed the wind. In the rear area, the two-part roof spoiler is noticeable, which is only used as a unique identifier in the Golf GTI Clubsport. The front spoiler and the rear wing are much more than just design features - they significantly increase the downforce of the sports car. The Golf GTI Clubsport leaves the Wolfsburg plant on 18-inch alloy wheels as standard. A special diffuser, the body lowered by 10 millimeters and widened side skirts also create a sporty overall impression. Also new: the oval instead of round tailpipes of the sports exhaust system, which are arranged on the right and left.

Numerous GTI-specific features also individualize the interior. These include top sports seats in ArtVelours, which provide support even when cornering quickly, as well as a sports steering wheel with grip areas made of perforated leather and shift paddles for the standard 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG). Aluminum-look pedals and other high-quality details round off the exclusive interior. If we get more information about the changes compared to the normal GTi, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply do ours Feed subscribe to.
