A €76.000 Golf? The VW Golf R 333 Limited Edition is here!

VW pulls through and presents the Golf R 333 Limited Edition. Distinguished by the magic number in its name, the one-of-a-kind will be limited to just 333 units and - just like the normal Golf R Performance and the now sold out "20 Years" edition – puts 333 hp on the road. However, the price tag is also pretty hefty: the R 76.410 costs exactly €333. And that's not just the entry-level price, but also the top price - since the limited-edition model is only available in a single version. However, a Golf R Performance with comparable equipment is only a few hundred cheaper. Advance sales for the R 333 will start on June 2, 2023 - and orders will only be accepted the good old way at VW dealers. However, if you want to call a 333 your own, you have to be quick and have a bit of luck. Because every VW dealer who receives the R 333 gets exactly one copy to ensure fair distribution.

The first 2023s are to be delivered from September 333. For selected customers there will even be a handover event in the Autostadt in Wolfsburg in October. Each of the 333 vehicles also comes with a key box and a certificate of authenticity. The R 333 is always delivered in "lime yellow metallic" - not a new color for the Golf 8, but it has never appeared on the R. To add contrast, the roof is painted black and the Black Style Pack is standard. In addition to black mirror caps, this also includes black 19-inch rims (type Estoril), which are covered with Bridgestone Potenza Race semislicks. A glossy black foil with the 333 logo is also emblazoned above the body-colored rocker panels.

Incidentally, VW also treats the special model to the blue "R" logos, which are known from the 20-year R and self-aligning R hub caps from the range of accessories are also included. Darkened rear windows and LED matrix headlights complete the equipment. At the rear, connoisseurs of the matter will of course immediately recognize the titanium tailpipes of the Akrapovic exhaust system. Incidentally, the interior is just as chic as the exterior. Everything that glitters and costs is built into the 333 as standard. These include a Harman Kardon sound system, the IQ.Drive assistance package, a reversing camera, the "Discover Pro" navigation system, a comfort package and sports seats with nappa leather covers and blue "R" logos. As a special highlight, VW has attached a plaque to the dashboard that shows the consecutive numbering of each individual Golf R 333. Each of the 333 models has its very own number.

The well-known two-liter TSI with the internal code name EA 333 Evo 888 toils under the hood of the Golf R 4. That means it delivers a whopping 333 hp and a maximum torque of 420 Nm on the road. As usual, power is transmitted via the seven-speed DSG and all-wheel drive. The drive of the 333 is similar to that of the Golf R Performance and the 20-year Golf-R.

Also the driving modes (including "Drift" and "Nordschleife") are included in the special model. With one exception: the shift jerks programmed in the 20-Years-Golf-R were removed from the 333 by the DSG. But that has no effect on driving performance: the Golf R 333 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,6 seconds and the top speed is 270 km/h (thanks to the standard R-Performance package). In summary, the Golf R 333 is an impressive limited edition that really doesn't skimp on performance and features. With its bright color and special accessories, it will definitely be an eye-catcher on the street. But remember, if you want one, then you have to be quick and put the wherewithal on the table!
