As part of the SUV coupé trend, Volkswagen launched the ID.5, which is considered a sportier alternative to the ID.4. However, the sales figures lag far behind, because, among other things, the eye-catching rear design with the fixed spoiler is apparently not to everyone's taste. In general, the question arises as to whether the ID.5 makes sense, because it not only has a more controversial style than its ID.4 brother, but is also even more impractical. The sloping rear costs loading volume and the clarity is more limited than in the practical volume models of the ID fleet. Today we want you a very special ID.5 GTX present, which was extensively modified by the PS saddlery.
Show car, designed by trainees!
The vehicle, which was designed by 14 trainees from the three Saxon VW locations of Zwickau, Dresden and Chemnitz, is the eighth vehicle of this type from the Volkswagen Group. PS-Sattlerei, a tuning crew from the Ruhr area, was brought in as a partner , around the refiner Dennis Halverscheid, on board to put a very special vehicle on the wheels. The specialists from North Rhine-Westphalia left no stone unturned and no component in the interior felt untouched.
The entire interior was covered with sporty Alcantara and vegan synthetic leather to set an example for sustainability. The outer areas of the seat side bolsters, the backs of the seat backrests and the upper areas of the door panels are covered with artificial leather. However, much larger areas of the cabin were covered by the experts at PS Saddlery with vegan and extremely soft Alcantara, which is not only good for the environment but also looks sporty. Another highlight is the electric skateboard, which is part of the vehicle so that you can travel in urban traffic without a car.
Skateboard and exterior are green!
The color selection of the ecologically inspired project is unusual. A green Lamborghini color tone, which one would rather expect from the military, characterizes both the exterior of the VW ID.5 GTX and the color scheme of the electric skateboard. Modified aprons, as well as fat 22-inchforged wheels with a black finish provide visual highlights for an otherwise pragmatic project.
An electric drive with 299 hp drives the SUV coupe!
Nothing was changed on the electric motor and it continues to deliver the usual 299 hp, which is also available in the production version of the ID.5 GTX. It accelerates to an electronically limited 180 kilometers per hour and the sprint from 0 to 100 takes less than 7 seconds. Power is transmitted permanently to all four wheels via an automatic transmission.
Our conclusion:
- A sensible project, but we can't say how it will be received by the VW fan community. However, we definitely give it a thumbs up for the implementation.
