VW New Beetle Pickup conversion from Smyth Performance

The American tuner Smyth Performance from Wareham in the state of Massachusetts has a completely crazy Conversion kit for the VW New Beetle (type 9C) at the beginning. In a very short time, the kit has already been converted to 100 vehicles and that has a very special reason. And this is not about the very successful look synonymous as a mix of a Chrysler PT Cruiser pickup conversion and an old one Dodge pickup of the B Series could go through. The reason is simply the price. For just 2.990 dollars (corresponds to about 2.640 Euro), the New Beetle built from 1997 to 2010 becomes a practical pickup. Since we have already had a few VWBeetle Pickup conversions were allowed to marvel is such a successful variant on the basis of the New Beetle new.

not every conversion was successful

Although we already know the idea behind the new edition from Wolfsburg, in our opinion no one has implemented it yet. Smyth Performance Manufactures all the necessary components such as the loading area or the boot lid completely made of aluminum and the shapely thick jaws on the rear are made of CFRP. There is also a completely redeveloped rear wall with small windows and completely free are the Online Video Tutorials as an aid to the reconstruction. Online video tutorials? Exactly! For the above-mentioned 3.000 dollars, you only get the needed parts, You have to take care of the rest yourself. However, this has the advantage that you can order the kit quasi in the workshop of trust and thus avoids a long journey. Considering the low purchase price of a New Beetle (sometimes even under 1.000 €) So a cheap way to own an exclusive vehicle.

less effort than you think

In a free workshop and without time pressure, we assume that conversion costs from 2.500 to 3.500 € could be realized. For well below 10.000 € you could get a particularly successful Beetle that we trust more successful than the original, that this year will be finally discontinued. And if you are technically not talented and even set the Flex should probably go down the cost again. PS. On request, Smyth Performance not only includes the New Beetle for the cheeky pickup around the website, but also the tuner's Facebook account also features a VW Jetta, an Audi A4, a Subaru Impreza, and even a Dodge Charger with a practical cargo area.
