As is well known, there are also different models of the VW Passat in the various markets. For example, there are two different versions on the Chinese market, as one variant of SAIC-VW and the other version of FAW-VW are built in China for the local market. While the B8, known to us as the Passat, rolls off the assembly line in China as the VW Magotan, the Passat there is almost identical to the US Passat, which has the NMS suffix and is not yet based on the MQB platform, but for reasons of cost shares the floor pan with older VW models. The fact that VW has put the red pencil on this model does not lead to poor sales figures, because the Passat is extremely popular in both the USA and China. Of course, this also has an effect on the tuning scene there, which has already taken the VW Passat NMS and its China version into their hearts.

Eye-catcher with red LED headlights

The model we are presenting is the first generation of the Passat, specially launched for China, which was produced from 2011 to 2019 in cooperation with the joint venture partner SAIC. At first glance, you immediately notice the matt black paintwork on this copy, which also includes the radiator grille and the VW logo, making the emblem almost invisible. At the front, there are also redesigned LED daytime running lights, which have now adopted the graphics of the taillights from various Skoda models and come with a C-shaped arch. The absolute highlight, however, are the red LED headlights, which we have already seen on one Chevy Malibu XL from China. Colored LED lights are probably currently very trendy in China, and there are illuminated exhaust pipesthat shimmer in various colors to make the exhaust gases appear colorful.

In addition to such eye-catchers, this is relatively subtle Stance tuning and the rims in BBS optics a little under, although everything looks very harmonious and modified. At the rear, the matte black tinted tail lights with LED technology immediately catch the eye, especially at night, as their light graphics are quite impressive. A relatively conspicuous rear spoiler sits enthroned on the trunk lid, somewhat reminiscent of the one in the CDM scene so popular rump spoiler, but not quite as pronounced. We can state that the model would also cause a stir at European tuning meetings, because above all the headlights are probably unique on a Passat so far.

Interior also slightly modified.

The first thing we noticed in the interior were the wine-red upholstery of the leather seats, but other little things were changed in order to optimally coordinate the cockpit with the new seats. The VW logo in the steering wheel got a wine-red border, and wine-red paddles were installed for the dual clutch transmission. This means that the seats and cockpit are in harmony with color.

Nothing was changed on the drive.

Unfortunately, we don't know which engine powers the chic show car. Various engines from 131 HP to 250 HP were available for the Passat on the Chinese market, all of which run on petrol. There were no hybrid or diesel models. All models reach a top speed of at least 200 km / h, which means that the Passat is well positioned when it comes to taking a quick trip on the motorway.

Passat NMS practically not represented in Germany.

If you are now in the mood for a project car like this one, you will have to be very lucky to get hold of one of the very few Passat NMS registered in Germany. It is much easier if you just look at the end of the post and look at the picture gallery for this vehicle. If we get more information about the changes to the Passat B8, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply our Feed subscribe to.
