The full GTI charge for around € 20.000? Volkswagen makes exactly that possible with the Up GTI. And in view of 115 HP and only one ton of curb weight, you want to attract the hardcore MK1 Golf GTi fans. And the similarly strong Ur-Golf GTI can hardly follow the Wolfsburg-based pint of the present. And with the contemporary Up you are also much more comfortable on the road. With a new price of a good 20.000 euros including a few extras, you have to dig deep into your wallet for this vehicle class. But then there is the well-known GTI quality with typical insignia such as red and black decorative stripes, various GTI logos, aluminum rims in stately 17 inches and a GTi grill with a honeycomb structure. In addition, a sporty roof spoiler over the tailgate and as a highlight of course the 1-liter turbo three-cylinder with 115 hp and 200 Nm torque.

8,8 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h

It pushes the Up from 8,8 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds and the top speed only ends at almost 200 km / h. The crisp sports suspension lowers the Wolfsburg dwarf by 15 mm and there is a GTI alarm not only in the body but also in the interior. For example, with car seat covers, a leather steering wheel from the Golf GTI and amenities such as ambient lighting, automatic air conditioning, seat heating, cruise control, parking sensors and even a collision warning system. In terms of the appearance of the material and the quality of workmanship, it seems that this is not enough for the owner of this copy. Because it has its up to the tuner Vilner garage and wanted a slightly upgraded interior. The interior of the Up GTI is actually one of the most beautiful in its class even without modifications.

Foil with start number 21

The tartan weave pattern on the seats, the red painted dashboard and the cool contrasting stitching on the steering wheel are the right formula to bring retro back into fashion. But it is well known that something more is always possible. And that applies to inside "AND" outside. On the outside, there was a spacey foil design with geometric shapes in black, gray and red based on an Up GTI tuned by Milltek, which Vilner Garage took over, but not copied one-to-one. Instead, the Vilner project is equipped with very own details such as a starting number 21 instead of the Milltek 35. Basically, Vilner has hardly made any further changes this time. In the cabin, parts of the center console and the door panels were still covered with gray-heathered fabric with GTI lettering, but that's about it. Was it a number too little this time or just right? What do you mean? If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
