There is no doubt that EPD Motorsports, based in Santa Fe Springs, California, knows about widebody projects. We have been proved that with the Black Tiger based on a Dodge Challenger or even that Widebody M4 from the beginning of March. But we have never seen such extensive EPD changes on a Ferrari. Although you have with the 599 GTB as well as a F12 can certainly already gain experience with the Italian athletes, but so far there have been no really extensive body modifications. But that's exactly what has now changed because EPD Motorsports has grabbed a Ferrari 458 Italia and given it an extensive body kit from Prior Design. This is the PD458 kit which consists of a new bumper including front splitter & sidewings, new bonnet including air opening, side skirts, a bootlid spoiler lip and an aggressive rear diffuser.
The absolute highlight, however, are definitely the new front fenders, which are significantly wider than the standard components and also have various air openings. It is even more extreme at the rear than at the front, and here, too, widenings have been attached which significantly widen the "Ar—" of the 458. With such a project it is of course not only done with the body kit because a new wheel set is also installed here. The decision was made for Klässen ID Wheels of type CS55T with their shiny black painted rim star and a rim base in copper make a nice contrast to the white painted body. The spokes of the rims also provide a view of the large brake system with yellow painted calipers.
And the soundscape has also been changed because from now on the eight-cylinder V-mid-engine screams its 570 PS & 540 NM torque through a Frequency Intelligent Exhaust (Fi Exhaust System) sports exhaust system with gold-colored tailpipes. In our eyes, the only thing missing here is a lowering because the space in the wheel arch is 1-2 cm too much of the good as we think. But maybe the owner of the 458 sees it completely differently, which we could understand. At least in terms of drivability, the current setup can hardly be surpassed. There isn't much more to say about the 458 so we leave it with the pictures. If we get more information about the modifications, there will of course, as always, be an update for this report. - Klässen ID Wheels (Type CS55T, glossy black, copper rim base)
- darkened / tinted windows
- possibly a performance increase - (chip tuning, tuning box, compressor or turbo conversion, NOS etc. - more information is not available)
- Sports exhaust system (Frequency Intelligent Exhaust - Fi Exhaust System with golden tailpipes)
