Hard to believe but this GAZ-M20 (also GAZ-M20 "Victory", in German: victory) from the 50s was completely equipped with the latest technology and is also in excellent condition. It is a GAZ-M20 Pobeda which, after a restoration under the pen of racing driver Ruslan Chirkov, quickly changed from a four-door to a two-door Converted Coupe has been. This makes the design with the elegantly sloping rear appear even more successful, making it very similar to the American Chevrolet Fleetline Aerosedan. The body is otherwise essentially unchanged at first glance and only the specially adapted wheel arch extensions have nothing to do with the series. But if you look closely you will see that the GAZ-M20 Pobeda has significantly smaller windows compared to the series.

chopping on the roof & only 2 doors

This is due to the fact that an extensive chopping took place, whereby the A / B and C pillars are shortened a lot and moved closer to the body. The silhouette looks much more elegant, which is further emphasized by the removed trim strips and the painted radiator grille. Incidentally, all components are even more spectacular under the sheet. For example, here would be the front suspension from one of the last Volga GAZ-31105s, there was a rear suspension from Toyota and the Japanese also donated the automatic transmission and the steering. The absolute highlight is under the hood. Here, a 2,5-liter inline six-cylinder with 180 hp and the engine code 1JZ-GE was built, which means that it was also a Toyota donor. The engine was installed in the Toyota Cresta or Crown, for example, and the Mark II was also equipped with it. We don't know where it comes from in the end.

Leather interior of an Audi TT installed

The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via multi-part chrome rims and if you look closely, you can also see a befitting brake system with calipers in the body color. And the cabin has also changed completely. In addition to many accents in body color, there was also the leather interior of an Audi TT, plus a classic three-spoke steering wheel and an audio system that is hidden behind a retro design radio. The center console, on the other hand, seems to have been created independently, because there was usually a continuous seat at the front and rear. The changes in combination with the many small, loving details make this vehicle extremely desirable and an absolute one-off. Hats off to the idea and implementation.
