This saves money, because often the car only has to be taxed and not bought. And with a simple trick you can save even more. The monetary benefit is taxed, just like the salary. How much tax is due is determined by many factors, such as the type of drive, the time of purchase and CO₂ emissions. As a rule, the monthly taxable amount is 0,25 to 1 percent of the gross new price. For some workers, it makes sense to have a logbook to be kept in which all private journeys are recorded. Let's take a look at this fictitious case: The gross list price of a new car is €30.000 plus €10.000 for special equipment, making a total of €40.000. According to the one percent rule, the monetary benefit is €400 per month. So €4.800 a year. There is also a tax allowance of €10.000. You drive tax-free for the first two years. In the third year, €400 of the exempt amount has not yet been exhausted, so the monetary benefit is €4.400. In this way, additional costs for a higher-quality vehicle model can be offset.

Reduce monetary benefit with better equipment!

With an assumed individual tax rate of 20 percent, the tax savings in the calculation example of the United Income Tax Assistance is only €960 in the first and second year and €80 in the third year. That is of course little compared to the €10.000 invested. However, if you were planning to equip the company car with a few extras anyway, then the "discount" comes in handy.
