Travelers and commuters can now plan their trips even more efficiently in Google Maps: The e-scooters and e-bikes from Spin are now also displayed in the route planner. In addition to paths for cycling, walking, driving and using public transport, Google Maps is now also proposing routes that can be covered with spin scooters. The integration is initially planned in 84 cities in the USA, Canada, Germany and Spain.
With one click to the next e-scooter!
Google Maps shows users the way to the nearest available spin e-scooter or e-bike on the map. The remaining battery range and the estimated time of arrival can also be viewed. To book, the user selects the desired vehicle with one click and is forwarded to the Spin app. There he can pay as usual, unlock the vehicle and start the journey.
"With the Google integration, Spin makes it easier for millions of users to incorporate bicycles and e-scooters into their daily journeys," said Ben Bear, CEO of Spin. “Our goal is to make the planning of multimodal trips as smooth as possible for consumers. It has to be even easier and more convenient to travel by bike, bus or e-scooter than with your own car. The partnership with Google is our largest platform integration to date, but we are planning many more, ”said Bear.
Through the city in 15 minutes
In addition to Google Maps, Spin is already integrated into various map providers, such as CityMapper, Moovit, the Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) or the transit app. "The great interest shows us that micromobility is on the advance and is developing into a common transport solution for city dwellers," says a happy Hendrik Büchner, Country Manager Germany at Spin. "The integration of e-scooters in route planner apps brings us a step closer to realizing our vision of 15-minute cities."
Due to the growing integration with local public transport, Spin supports the partner cities in increasing the efficiency of their means of transport. At the same time, the environmental pollution associated with short journeys is reduced.
