Mopped 2021: that changes for motorcyclists!

In 2021 there are some changes for bikers that are definitely important - even if there are not necessarily new concrete regulations are. We would like to present these changes in more detail in the following article. January 2021: The emissions standard Euro 5. The first of January 2021 is the day on which all motorcycles that are newly registered must meet the new Euro 5 emissions standard. The aim here is to reduce emissions by around a third compared to the Euro 4 emissions standard. Although it is not really a huge leap, as it was in the previous step, it is still becoming increasingly difficult for manufacturers to technically meet the standards. In the meantime, it is no longer enough to install an injection system or a catalytic converter, but to do so turbocharger or variable timing utilized.

The way food is Specific output is partially changed, which is particularly relevant for very sporty motorcycles so that they do not lose performance. Also at air-cooled and Two-stroke engines appropriate adjustments are required. However, the manufacturers are by no means under acute pressure, because some motorcycles that were recently presented already easily meet the Euro 5 standard. Euro 4 remaining stocks that were produced before the lockdown, by the way, may still be sold through an exemption from the KBA. But note: In the best case scenario, they should register a newly purchased Euro 4 motorcycle this year!

250 for the practical test of the A2 driving license

This regulation already came into effect on November 1st this year in force and states that in the future motorcycles with 250 cubic meters can also be used for the test - previously it had to be at least 395 cubic meters and 27 to 48 hp. The reason for this change is that many shy away from 48hp bikes and don't max out their performance anyway.
