KTM 1390 Super Duke R 2024: The new power beast!

The KTM 1390 Super Duke R, often referred to as the “Beast”, will hit the streets in 2024 and solve the problem 1290 Super Duke away. The bike has it all: it delivers 190 PS (140 kW) at 10.000 rpm and a torque of 145 Nm on the road at 8.000 rpm. The engine, a bored one LC8 V-Twin with a cylinder spread of 75 degrees, has a displacement of 1.350 cubic centimeters. This is a significant increase compared to its predecessor with 1.301 cubic meters. But what makes the bike special is the introduction of the variable valve control, the so-called Cam shift system from KTM, which works similarly to the BMW Shiftcam. The system allows two different intake cams for different valve lift, depending on the speed.

Additional technical highlights are: expanded airbox and those from 56 on 60 millimeters larger throttle valves. A flap control in front of the new one rear silencer ensures compliance with the new noise standard ASEP 2.0. The fuel consumption is according to the WMTC standard 5,9 liters per 100 kilometers. The chassis consists of the latest generation WP Apex Components, with a 48 mm upside-down telescopic fork at the front and a vertical central spring strut at the rear, both of course fully adjustable. The steering head angle was also increased 65,3 degree adjusted, and the rear tire now measures proud 200/55-17.

The Evo version the 1390 Super Duke R has a semi-actively regulated system Suspension with the latest WP Semi-Active Technology (SAT) and comes with five driving modes. In addition, the Evo rear lowers in three preset stages when stationary, a function that KTM calls “Factory start" designated. The seat height stay sporty, with 834 millimeters, and that with a full tank Total weight of the bike is 212 kg.. The new front section of the 1390 Super Duke R is similar to the one recently introduced 990 Duke, with open-mounted LED headlights and daytime running light elements. The cockpit is equipped with a 5 inch TFT display, Smartphone connectivity and a USB-C connector.

Tilt-sensitive devices ensure safety assistance systems like Slip control and ABS, including one Supermoto mode. For fans there is also a range of original accessories, the “Power parts“. Interestingly, the new 1390 version of the LC8 V-Twin will also be available from KTM partners in the future CFMoto Made in China, which indicates a global distribution of the new “Beast”. KTM has not yet announced the prices for the 1390 Super Duke R and the Evo version, but they will certainly reach the level of the previous models and in all likelihood even surpass.

  • Tubes: 200/55-17 rear, 120/70-17 front
  • Brakes: Brembo Stylema monoblock four-piston calipers at the front, two-piston calipers at the rear
  • Semi-active suspension: For Evo version, WP Semi-Active Technology (SAT) with 5 modes
  • Evo rear: Lowers when stationary (factory start)
  • seat height: 834 millimeters

  • Gas tank: Enlarged to 17,5 liters
