We have an open ear for you, our customers! Of course, this also applies to the drivers of the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1200 GS LC, BMWs that are undoubtedly among the best all-round motorcycles in the world. One point that is discussed in many conversations is the clearly perceptible, low-frequency roar of the two GS, which occurs with mounted cases, especially in partial and full load operation at speeds between 80 and 130 km / h. However, this is exactly the speed range in which you are most often on the move. Or the one you can least avoid. Some drivers report that the noise can cause discomfort on longer journeys. This was the reason for our developers to pursue the phenomenon - which we know from our own experience - from an engineering point of view in order to develop a functional solution that reduces and minimizes the effect.

The phenomenon and its cause

During our test drives, we were able to identify the resonance chamber, which is roughly formed from the inside of the case and the entire rear wheel arch, as a secondary noise source, into which the rear silencer mounted on the right protrudes. The resonance chamber turns out to be a sound source due to its geometry, its volume and the materials (and their acoustic reflection behavior) that limit it. It is therefore the sound pressure escaping directly from the exhaust that stimulates resonance in the space described. This resonance space acts like a mechanical amplifier. He is the cause of the booming noise.

Our exclusive EDITION 35 valve cover & cylinder protectors for the BMW R 1250 Shiftcam Boxer

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of our company, we presented various campaigns and components to you last year. The highlight of the EDITION 35 projects were undoubtedly the two sensational interpretations of the R 1250 GS, which we named EDITION 35 # 1 and # 2. They are based on the current BMW R 1250 GS. We designed both machines in the exclusive EDITION 35 color scheme. The character of the two GS couldn't be more different: We characterized # 1 as a super enduro and # 2 as a striking super athlete! So we have not only explored the maximum range of options for conversion with our components that are possible when converting a GS, but also marked out the exciting antipodes of the GS world.

Both concept bikes are equipped with the successful, innovative valve cover and cylinder protectors "EXTREME". The popular protective components, which have enjoyed an excellent reputation as effective and innovative protectors for the 2019 Shiftcam Boxer models since they were presented at EICMA 1250, are now available in the EDITION 35 version: They are distinguished by their exclusive design integrated stainless steel inlay in EDITION 35 blue.
