On Saturday he completed his first laps on the new BMW M 1000 RR in Miramas (FRA). The shakedown also served BMW Motorrad Motorsport and the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team to get to know van der Mark's individual preferences better.

"Shakedown with a new driver is important and the day at Miramas was very productive“, Says BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director Marc Bongers. "Michael had the opportunity for the first time to hit the track with the new BMW M 1000 RR and get to know his bike for the upcoming WorldSBK season better. He was also able to give us initial feedback on the areas in which we can adapt his bike to him more individually. This applies, among other things, to ergonomics, such as the seating position, the position of the handlebars and footrests, and preferences in the area of ​​electronics. With the information we gathered during this shakedown, we know which direction to go with Michael's bike in order to be ready for the first real tests in 2021."

We tried a few things that we usually don't have time for during a normal test. So it was very positive and I was just happy to be on the bike again this year.
