For more than four decades, the BMW Motorrad abbreviation “RT” has been synonymous with comfort on long journeys and dynamic driving fun on country roads in the world of dynamic touring motorcycles. And there's more: A BMW RT has always set the standard in this class. To ensure that it stays that way in the future, BMW Motorrad has made extensive changes and innovations to the new R 1250 RT - for even more riding pleasure and touring enjoyment at the highest level. As before, the legendary two-cylinder boxer engine enables comfortable travel and dynamic propulsion. It still has a displacement of 1 cm3 and also delivers 5 kW (100 PS) in the current EU136 approval. Thanks to BMW ShiftCam technology for varying the valve timing and valve lift on the intake side, it offers superior power across the entire engine speed range, extremely smooth running and smoothness, as well as excellent fuel consumption and emissions.

The standard DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) ensures a high level of driving safety through the best possible traction. With the new standard driving mode "Eco", the driver is supported in driving as economically as possible. The new R 1250 RT can be equipped with the Pro driving mode option as an ex-works option. It contains the new driving mode preselection with which the driver can put an individual selection of driving modes on the driving mode button. The engine drag torque control (MSR) is also a new component of Driving Modes Pro. It can be used to safely avoid unstable driving conditions that can arise in overrun mode or when shifting down due to excessive brake slip on the rear wheel.

In its latest edition, the R 1250 RT is equipped with the new BMW fully integral ABS Pro as standard. This is a braking system in which the front and rear brakes are actuated simultaneously with both the hand and foot brake levers. New full LED headlights with adaptive headlights and new light functions as optional equipment ex works.

The new standard full-LED headlights already illuminate the road with unmatched bright, clear light. The new headlight with swivel function goes one step further. With the special equipment "Adaptive headlights", the dipped beam of the standard full-LED headlights is turned into the curve depending on the lean angle. In this way, curves are almost fully illuminated because the light is where the motorcycle is going. Thanks to new light functions, the experience with the new R 1250 RT is even more intense and practical at the same time. The welcome light (“Welcome” function), the “Good bye” function for goodbye and the “Follow me home” function for orientation will be available as special equipment in the future.

Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) as standard. Active Cruise Control (ACC) - speed control with integrated distance control for relaxed touring as an ex-works option.

The standard Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) automatically regulates the driving speed set by the driver. Dynamic means that the preselected speed is kept constant even when driving downhill. If the braking effect of the motor is not sufficient for this, the fully integral brake is automatically activated in order to keep the desired driving speed constant. Active Cruise Control (ACC), available as an option, goes one step further. Thanks to radar sensors, it enables relaxed gliding with distance control without automatically having to adapt the speed to the vehicle in front.

New, 10,25-inch TFT color display with integrated map navigation for convenient route planning and extensive connectivity as standard.

The new R 1250 RT is equipped with a 10,25 inch TFT color display with integrated map navigation and connectivity “2.0”. With excellent readability, clear menu navigation and a highly integrated operating concept, the new R 1250 RT is at the forefront of series motorcycles. The new 10,25-inch color display makes it possible for the first time on a motorcycle to show a navigation map in the instrument cluster and thus dispense with an additional display. Simultaneously with the introduction of the standard connectivity and the navigation map shown on the display, the new special equipment "Comfort telephony with extended smartphone connection" is offered. A smartphone can be safely stored in a storage compartment that is protected against splash water and ventilated by an electric fan, and its battery can be kept ready for operation either inductively or via a USB connection. With the audio system 2.0, the new R 1250 RT offers an even more intense sound experience than its predecessor.
