BMW Motorrad presents seven R 18 customizing projects!

As in Canada, Italy and Japan, impressive customizing projects based on the BMW R 18 have now been created in Poland and BMW Motorrad Poland has unveiled the results: seven equally spectacular and individual creations with the "Big Boxer" at the centre.

BMW ZK Motors – BMW R 18 Blackjack.

BMW Motorrad presents seven R 18 customizing projects!

The R 18 Black Jack from BMW Motorrad sales partner ZK Motors in Kielce is black as night, from head to toe. Not only was black paint used, but also extensively black chrome, which gives the R 18 Black Jack a very special value. The list of such galvanically refined components is long and includes headlight rings, speedometer bezels, engine housing covers, handlebar weights, cylinder head covers, push rod pipes, intake manifold covers, intake grilles, air filter covers, handlebar clamps, wider beach bar handlebars, fuel filler caps, fuel tank trim elements and hanging rear-view mirrors. Small 16-inch wheels with lavish tires make the R 18 Black Jack look long, low and masculine. The thoroughly black appearance is supported by a matt black sidepipe-style exhaust system and high-quality milled elements.

The cylinder head covers and the engine housing cover are decorated with milling work in the Roland Sands design and the "Black Jack" emblem on the engine was also elaborately milled from aluminum. Other black parts such as the hand lever, the front direction indicators and the direction indicators and rear lights embedded in the rear fender bracket round off the homogeneous appearance. Finally, the quilted single seat bench, the tinted headlight glass and the license plate holder attached on the left also fit in stylishly. As a visual icing on the cake, two Black Jack cards are immortalized on the rear fender.

BMW Dobrzanski Team Customs – BMW R 18 Isle of Man.

BMW Motorrad presents seven R 18 customizing projects!

The famous Isle of Man, where the Tourist Trophy has been held since 1907, at which Georg "Schorsch" Meier won the Senior TT for BMW in 1939, inspired BMW Motorrad sales partner Dobrzanski Team Customs in Kraków to create the sporty BMW R 18 Isle of Man. The design of the BMW R 18 Isle of Man has evolved from the heritage of Georg Meier's winning BMW works racing machine, the BMW RS 255 compressor. With her appearance - and adorned with "Schorsch" Meier's start number 49 - she continues the tradition of road racing and processes the history of the Isle of Man as a special place for motorcyclists and for the history of BMW Motorrad. The color "Isle of Man green metallic", known for example from the BMW M4, determines the dynamic appearance and underlines the love of speed and belonging to the world of extraordinary BMW vehicles.

Nine Hills Motorcycles – BMW R 18 Liberty.

Nine Hills Motorcycles in Chełmno is a renowned Polish company with traditions, run by a true enthusiast - Paweł Stachura. His designs are recognized around the world and the bikes have triumphed on the world's finest custom stages. His commissioned project based on the BMW R18 called Liberty includes completely redesigned, handcrafted body components such as the fuel tank, front and rear fenders, seat, lamp cover with small LED headlight and handlebars. Special features are the round instrument integrated in the tank center tunnel, the tank filler neck, which is flush with the tank surface and can be opened by pressing it, as well as exclusive and also handcrafted leather components such as the seat cushion and side pocket.

On the chassis side, in addition to a lowered and fully adjustable rear wheel suspension and a slightly lowered fork, there are also three-part wheels from Rick's Motorcycles in the sizes 8×18 inches at the rear and 3,5×21 inches at the front with tires in the format 240/40-18 or 130/ 60-21 to use. Numerous CNC milled parts such as cylinder head covers or the specially designed design oil cooler as well as brake calipers and footrests from Beringer complement the elaborately painted and airbrushed R 18 Liberty tastefully. A short black FCR exhaust system ensures good sound.

BMW Inchape Wrocêaw – BMW R 18 Roadster.

BMW and MINI sales partner Inchcape Wrocêaw in Breslau was inspired by the automobile construction of the 18s and 1920s when designing the BMW R 1930 Roadster. Clear and simple lines were in the foreground and, together with a dash of Art Deco, ultimately led to a very clean and also unique look of the R 18 Roadster.

A completely newly developed hump seat with an additional tank and "Monza Cap" filler neck gives the rear of the R 18 Roadster a very sporty appearance, which is complemented at the front by a matching cockpit fairing with special handlebars. Style-defining design elements are longitudinal beads in the seat hump and trim. This design language is reflected in the decorative elements with openings on the sides of the tank and on the aerodynamically designed front fender, the front of which is adorned with the legendary BMW kidney grille as a reminiscence of BMW automobile construction.

BMW Smorawiński – BMW R 18 Roar.

BMW sales partner Smorawiński in Poznań had the R 18 Concept study from 18 in mind when creating its R 2019 Roar. In particular, the Smorawiński team focused on a very light-looking rear section. Coherently designed details such as the short rear mudguard and the swing saddle with two coil springs ensure a particularly light visual impression. Not only the good sound, but also the desired light appearance of the rear section also supports an extremely short, "silencer-less" exhaust system in side pipe style. Together with wire-spoke wheels and chrome-plated brake calipers, the result is a very puristic R 18 that conveys a pure motorcycle feeling. Roar!

BMW Inchcape Poznań – BMW R 18 Speedy Gonzales.

BMW sales partner Inchcape in Swadzim chose the fastest mouse in Mexico as the namesake for his BMW R 18 customizing creation. Voilà, the BMW R 18 Speedy Gonzales. In fact, one can well imagine this customizing BMW R 18 on the highway in the northern Mexican desert, past meter-high cacti and in front of nothing but a seemingly endless ribbon of asphalt - similar to how the cartoon mouse experienced it on his TV adventures. In fact, the BMW R 18 Speedy Gonzales with its ape hanger and comfortable individual seat seems made for endless ribbons of asphalt.

Inspired by the automobile construction of the 1920s and 1930s, the front and rear wheel fenders are powerful and curved and, together with the tank, side covers, headlight pot and instrument housing, offer a high degree of presence for an extraordinary paint finish - executed in blue-black, with elaborate airbrush technology and filigree lines. Technically perfectly implemented and together with the long fishtail rear silencer a real eye-catcher and feast for the eyes!

BMW Team Długołęka – BMW R 18 The Great Wave.

Together with UNIKAT Motorworks, BMW sales partner Team Długołęka initiated the BMW R 18 The Great Wave. The leitmotif: the modification of the BMW R 18 inspired by Japanese art painting and the Japanese style of bobber-style motorcycles. With its patinated finish, the R 18 The Great Wave makes you think it's decades old and has just been found in a barn. This special painting technique was entrusted to the best artist in Poland - Łukasz Elbalenko. With reference to Japanese culture and art, the theme of the Great Wave in Kanagawa was chosen - one of the most famous works of art from Japan by Hokusia, created around 1831.

Details such as the rear duck-tail fender and the shortened rear frame, with a single seat covered in natural brown leather, follow the Japanese bobber style. Short, handcrafted silencers with slotted copper-colored end pieces and a hexagonal cross-section ensure a good sound. The exclusive copper coating can also be found on the cardan shaft, brake calipers and cylinder head covers. Finally, classic Shinko tires with a very high cross-section and grooved profile give the R 18 The Great Wave a particularly masculine look. A flat dragbar handlebar with genuine leather handles and personalized emblems on the motor complete the harmonious appearance of the R 18 The Great Wave.
