Ducati expands the Monsters with the SP version!

In the second episode of Webseries Ducati World Première 2023 Ducati presented the new monster SP: a version that, thanks to its perfectly matched technical equipment, has been designed for all lovers of sporty driving where driving pleasure is the key. The Monster, presented by Ducati in 2021, embodies all the essence of Ducati in its most compact, puristic and lightest form. The recipe is the original from 1993: a sporty engine perfect for the road combined with a frame derived from a superbike. That's all you need for the daily dose of driving fun.

The heart of the Monster is the Testastretta 11° engine, a 4 hp, liquid-cooled 111-valve twin with desmodromic valve timing. Inspired by the Panigale V4, the front frame is an extremely light and compact aluminum frame that is attached directly to the engine heads. It is the modern reinterpretation of the recipe with which Ducati launched the naked bike segment and continues to captivate new generations of Monsteristi. The concept of monsters is as simple as it is effective. With the presentation of the Monster SP, Ducati takes another step in the evolution of the model. The new SP version features a number of high quality components that make the bike even lighter, more effective and sportier, but also more aggressive from an aesthetic point of view.

The sporty character of the Monster SP is immediately apparent thanks to the paint finish in the 2022 colors of the Ducati Lenovo Team Desmosedici GP, the gold anodizing of the Öhlins NIX30 fork and the standard Termignoni silencer. Details of particular quality are the red seat integrated into the rear when viewed from the side, the Monster SP logo on the passenger seat cover and the Ducati logo on the fuel tank, which is larger and based on the graphics of the Panigale V4. The Monster SP allows more efficiency with a sporty driving style. This version features better braking performance, lower weight transfer, improved ability to tighten corners and greater precision in all driving phases.

Fully adjustable Öhlins suspension

The fully adjustable Öhlins suspension elements, their fork 0,6 kg lighter is than that of the Monster and Monster +, improve the driving experience, increase the ground clearance and thus increase the maximum possible lean angle. The suspension elements have a sportier tuning that improves the Monster SP's dynamic qualities when driving on winding roads. In addition, the driving pleasure on the racetrack is increased.

Upgrading the braking system with Brembo Stylema® brake calipers with aluminum inner rings for the 320 mm front brake discs (0,5 kg lighter than the brake discs of the normal Monster) increases the braking performance of the Monster SP. Thanks to the lower mass inertia at the front, the motorcycle is also more agile. The weight reduction is favored by the use of a lithium-ion battery. Compared to the standard version, which is already the benchmark in terms of lightweight construction in this vehicle category, a further 2 kg are saved, although additional components such as the steering damper and the cockpit fairing are installed.

The sporting potential of the Monster SP is further enhanced by the steering damper, which improves stability during acceleration and cornering, and by being fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires as original equipment, the manufacturer's flagship product for sporty on-road driving. In terms of electronics, all the Riding Modes and therefore all the electronic controls have also been recalibrated to take full advantage of the changes made to the chassis. Added is the new Riding Mode Wet, which ensures more safety on wet roads.

Cornering ABS, Traction and Wheelie Control

When it comes to electronic equipment, the Monster is the leader in this segment. Standard equipment includes cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control. All electronic aids can be customized. The sporty character of the new Monster SP is also underlined by the Launch Control, which enables lightning-fast starts. With this top equipment, the Monster SP can safely develop its full performance.

With the Riding Modes Sport, Touring and Wet, the character of the Monster SP can be adapted according to driving style and road conditions. It is operated very simply using the buttons on the handlebars and the 4,3" TFT color display, with racing graphics inspired by the Panigale V4, a large rev counter and an information display on the left, including the gear engaged display. Is provided. The Ducati Monster SP will go on sale at the end of the year. The motorcycle will also be available in a reduced-power version for A2 license holders.
