Extremely classy: the Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP (2022)!

With the top model Streetfighter V4 SP, another jewel of the Streetfighter universe is presented, which is offered in a numbered version and is marked with the legendary abbreviation "SP" (for Sport Production). The new Streetfighter V4 SP is the most exciting naked bike that ever rolled off the assembly line in Borgo Panigale. This is made possible thanks to special technical equipment that perfectly combines the “Fight Formula” with the “SP” specification and further improves the power-to-weight ratio of the Streetfighter V4 S, which is already at the top of its category, and the motorcycle on the racetrack makes you more powerful. The Streetfighter V4 SP has a special paintwork, premium equipment derived from the Superleggera V4 and is light: 196 kg when ready to drive (3 kg less than the Streetfighter V4 S). The essential and fascinating "Winter Test" paintwork was designed by Ducati Centro Stile based on the Ducati Corse motorcycles that are used in the pre-season tests of the MotoGP and SBK championships.

The matt black of the fairing in combination with the matt carbon of the rims and winglets creates an excellent contrast to the bright red accents and the sparkling tank made of brushed aluminum. The new addition from Borgo Panigale is also equipped with some nice details, such as the consecutive number on the handlebar and the Italian flag on the carbon winglets. The Streetfighter V4 SP is equipped with carbon rims in a 5-double-spoke design, which are 1,4 kg lighter than the forged aluminum rims that are fitted as standard on the Streetfighter V4 S.

This reduces the mass inertia at the front by 26% and at the rear by 46%, which makes the motorcycle much more agile and manageable when changing direction. The exclusive Brembo Stylema R® brake calipers on the front wheel guarantee exceptional braking power and breathtaking performance even when used intensively on the racetrack *. The new motorcycle is equipped with the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0, an "event-based" system that can vary the damping depending on the rider's riding style. Together with the double winglets, they ensure more confidence and the best performance in sporty use.

1.103 cc Desmosedici Stradale with 208 hp

The beating heart is the 1.103 ccm Desmosedici Stradale with 208 hp, which delivers a torque of 123 Nm at 9.500 rpm (Euro 5 standard). In the Streetfighter V4 SP, the Desmosedici Stradale is combined with the STM-EVO SBK dry clutch, which guarantees a better anti-hopping function even with the most aggressive downshifts and better smoothness when the driver takes off the gas - a crucial aspect to be able to use on the To be really effective on the racetrack when you're pushing the limit. The features of this unique motorcycle are the adjustable CNC-milled footrests made of aluminum, the front fender made of carbon, the lithium-ion battery and a number of accessories that are suitable for "Track Days", such as the open carbon clutch cover and the caps for removing the license plate holder, enriched.

Thanks to its technical equipment, the Streetfighter V4 SP is the ideal companion for every amateur who wants to dominate the racetrack with a naked bike and get an immediate reaction. The braking performance is outstanding, the bike is easier to corner and reaches the apex faster, not to mention the high stability at high speeds.

Design

The new Streetfighter V4 SP comes in the minimalist “Winter Test” paint scheme, which is inspired by Ducati Corse and is used in the pre-season tests of the MotoGP and SBK championships. The completely black look, which results from the matt black of the fairing and the carbon rims, contrasts with the brushed aluminum tank, while the bright red accents that adorn the rear, the tank and the front fairing are reminiscent of the classic Ducati red . The specific seat bears the “V4 SP” logo, while the carbon winglets are decorated with the Italian flag, which can also be seen on the Panigale V4 R SBK. The racing character is underlined by the supplied cover, which closes the open holes when the license plate holder is removed.

Motor

The Streetfighter V4 SP is powered by the 1.103 cm³ Desmosedici Stradale, which meets the Euro 5 standard. It is an engine with a 90 ° V4 layout and desmodromic valve control, which comes from MotoGP and which has technical features such as the counter-rotating crankshaft and the "twin pulse" ignition sequence. The engine delivers 208 hp at 13.000 rpm and a torque of 123 Nm at 9.500 rpm. The engine with 90 ° V4 layout has the STM EVO-SBK 9-disc dry clutch, which is made of milled aluminum.

Compared to the oil bath clutch of the Streetfighter V4 S, the dry clutch guarantees a more effective anti-hopping function in extreme use on the racetrack, even with very aggressive downshifts. The ease of movement in pushing operation is better in comparison. In addition, the “mechanical” engine brake can be individually adapted with other clutch springs from the extensive Ducati Performance catalog. The assembly of the open clutch cover made of carbon, which is included in the scope of delivery, ensures the classic metallic sound that inspires thousands of Ducatisti.

Suspension

The chassis of the exclusive Streetfighter V4 SP is equipped with the latest technical components that it shares with the Ducati Superleggera V4, such as carbon rims and Brembo Stylema R® front brake calipers. The high-quality wheels in 5-twin-spoke design are made of high-strength carbon fibers and have aluminum hubs that are screwed to the composite structure. Both wheels allow a weight saving of 1,4 kg compared to the forged aluminum wheels of the Streetfighter V4 S. Overall, the weight has been reduced by 3,4 kg.

The result? A significant reduction in the moment of inertia. This improves agility and makes it easier to change direction. The brake system consists of two Brembo discs with a diameter of 330 mm on the front axle in combination with the new Brembo Stylema® R Monoblock brake calipers, whose pistons, which are derived from racing, are provided with ventilation holes. This means that the lever travel remains constant even after numerous laps on the racetrack. The driver's footrests are made of a high-quality anodized aluminum alloy. The adjustable system enables the driver to find the seating position that best suits his driving style. The heel guards are made of carbon. Shift and brake levers are designed in such a way that the risk of damage in the event of a slip is minimized.

In addition, they are designed in such a way that you can quickly switch between the normal and the reverse switching scheme. The SP model shares with the Streetfighter V4 S version the Öhlins NIX-30 fork, the Öhlins TTX36 shock absorber and the Öhlins steering damper, which is controlled by the second generation Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 system. In contrast to the S version, the new machine has the same springs and the same hydraulics as the Panigale V4. The only difference is that the fork's spring preload has been reduced from 11 mm to 6 mm.

Electronics

The electronics package of the latest generation of the Streetfighter V4 SP is based on a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (6D IMU - Inertial Measurement Unit), which is able to immediately record the roll, yaw and pitch angles of the motorcycle in space. In addition, the electronics package includes controls for all driving phases, from start to acceleration and braking to traction in the bends and at the exit:

  • Cornering ABS EVO from Bosch
  • Ducati Traction Control EVO 2 (DTC EVO 2)
  • Ducati Slide Control (DSC)
  • Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO)
  • Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
  • Ducati Quick Shift up / down EVO 2 (DQS EVO 2)
  • Engine Brake Control EVO (EBC EVO)
  • Ducati Electronic Suspension EVO (DES EVO)

Finally, it should be said that the parameters of the individual electronic aids are linked to the three Riding Modes by default. The driver has the option of personalizing the set-up or restoring the Ducati settings. Each of the driving aids, such as DTC, DWC, DSC or EBC, can be quickly set using the left control unit.
