Supermoto: the new KTM 450 SMR (model year 2022)

The 450 model year KTM 2022 SMR is KTM's ultimate contribution to the supermoto world. In this segment, handling and power rule and in the version updated for 2022 the bike is even more similar to the racing bikes of KTM's factory riders thanks to a special, orange powder-coated frame, a blue seat and racing graphics. The basis is KTM's KTM 450 SX-F, which has won many championship titles and whose engine has been optimized for supermoto use. Despite a weight of only 27 kg, it offers powerful torque and a powerful 63 hp. Its power curve can be explored with the help of a 5-speed gearbox from Pankl Racing Systems AG, which is equipped with a sensor that provides special EFI mappings for each gear. A 44 mm throttle valve from Keihin ensures a sensitive and optimal throttle response.

Their unrivaled handling is due to their special chrome-molybdenum steel frame, which is laser-welded by robots to guarantee maximum precision and quality, as well as perfect torsional rigidity. A frame geometry with an offset of 16 mm results in a natural and aggressive feedback from the CNC-milled fork bridge and the three-way adjustable handlebar.

Supermoto is about pushing the limits of your brain. To maximize this thrill, KTM has equipped this bike with all kinds of premium components. WP suspension with XACT technology gives the 2022 KTM 450 SMR phenomenal grip and wild drifts alike, while light, tubeless ALPINA Supermoto spoked wheels in 16,5 / 17 inch format and Bridgestone slicks defy the laws of physics. A radially mounted 4-piston brake caliper from Brembo with a radial brake cylinder grinds a 310 mm brake disc at the front, while a 220 mm disc works at the rear.

For 2022, the frame of the KTM 450 SMR will shine in “Racing Orange” to symbolize its proximity to the victorious factory bikes from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. In order to underline their connection to the KTM factory bikes even more, the revised frame harmonizes perfectly with the new blue seat cover and the sporty graphics.
