KTM EXC model series for 2024 presented: with lots of news!

With an impressive specification consisting of 95% new parts, the 2024 KTM Enduro model sets new standards. The latest generation of KTM enduro bikes comes with an all-new frame, groundbreaking closed-cartridge fork, improved bodywork, LED lighting and technological innovations unparalleled in the industry to face any challenge. With more than thirty years of racing experience and over 126 Enduro World Championship titles, KTM has consistently asserted itself as the front runner in the most demanding races. Also in the 2024 series, the KTM EXC models impress with top performance, advanced development and innovative breakthroughs that represent an unprecedented redesign.

KTM EXC model series 2024

At the heart of the 2024 KTM Enduro range is a completely redesigned, hydroformed, laser treated and robot welded frame. This achieves new standards in terms of axial flexibility and torsional strength, which enable unique feedback, energy absorption and straight-line stability. It thus forms the foundation of the 2024 model series. All motorcycles in the KTM EXC and EXC-F lines now feature a brand new WP XACT 48mm closed cartridge suspension fork, whose center piston has been redesigned to optimize the oil flow in the cartridge. The proven PDS damping remains in the KTM Enduro models and has been revised and improved for 2024 to interact smoothly with the new frame design.

The existing equipment is expanded with a new WP XPLOR PDS damping system for the rear wheel. For the first time in the industry, both compression and damping of the suspension can be adjusted completely tool-free via hand clickers at both ends. The preload on the rear wheel can also be adjusted very easily. The all-new, lightweight two-piece suit is made from a combination of polyamide and reinforced aluminum. It offers excellent handling, driver feedback and remarkable stability. All electronics, including an all-new off-road ECU, are integrated into the boom for easier access and improved protection.

The 2024 KTM Enduro series also benefits from a comprehensively revised body. In close cooperation with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing drivers, the vehicle was further developed to offer an optimized driver triangle and to enable improved knee contact, especially when standing. The new front fender features mud-repellent slats to protect the rider and the radiator, while a new transparent polyethylene (XPE) fuel tank has a capacity of 8,3 liters (for 4-stroke models) and 8,9 liters (for 2-stroke models) makes it easier to check the filling level and rounds off the body concept.

A fully self-contained OCU under the seat monitors the electronics, replacing electronic fuses and relays. In the event of a failure, it isolates the respective output of the defective component, with the status of each unit being indicated by a red or green LED. This allows quick and easy error diagnosis while driving. The 2-stroke models are once again at the forefront, making use of new electric throttle body injection technology for the first time. This technology, also known as TBI, ensures a particularly sensitive power development that almost reaches the level of a carburetor without having to react to changing altitudes.

The reed valve body has also been extensively redesigned, with new plastic flaps on the outside of the body providing improved sealing of the intake tract. This new design eliminates fuel wastage during extreme climbs and descents that could result in excessive fuel-air mixture enrichment. Another benefit of the new electronic fuel injection and ECU is the implementation of the new electronic exhaust control, which allows selection between two different ignition curves via the mapping selector switch.

The range of 4-stroke models is the widest. All 4-stroke versions have excellent engines that deliver high torque at low revs as well as explosive power delivery at high revs. By tilting the motor backwards by 2° and lowering the pinion by 3 mm, an improved center of gravity was achieved and with it a significant increase in handling and manoeuvrability. In addition to the advantages of a centralized mass and reduced weight, the landing gear balance when starting off has also been significantly optimised.

This promotes better traction on extreme climbs and exiting corners on dedicated enduro routes. The KTM EXC-F models for 2024 also debut with optional traction control and – for the first time in the enduro segment – ​​with a quickshifter function. This makes it possible to shift up from 2nd to 6th gear without using the clutch, allowing the driver to accelerate even while changing gears, resulting in improved control. These features can be enabled or disabled via an optional, redesigned mapping selector switch.
