Driven by a completely new parallel twin with a strong character in an off-road chassis, Suzuki presents the V-Strom 800DE, a versatile adventure tourer that is just as impressive in everyday life as it is on extended adventure trips. The heart of the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is the newly designed two-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 776 cubic centimetres. The long-stroke design, in conjunction with the 270-degree firing order, creates the balance between powerful thrust from low engine speeds and sporty revving power.

Two balancer shafts, which rotate at 90 degrees to the crankshaft, ensure smooth running – a patented novelty in series motorcycle construction. The powerful sound of the two-cylinder meets – thanks to electronically controlled throttle valves – a high-precision response behavior that is just as valuable in tough city traffic as it is when specifically building up traction on tricky trails.
As an adventure tourer, the V-Strom 800DE has a chassis that is predestined for demanding trips off the beaten track. The 21-inch front wheel ensures safe straight-line stability on loose ground, while the high-quality, adjustable suspension elements from Hitachi Astemo (SHOWA) with their 220 millimeters of travel even out rough bumps. The spoked wheels offer the right mix of stiffness and flexibility. In addition, the light aluminum swing arm reduces the unsprung masses.
The compact unit enables a high ground clearance of 220 millimeters and a chassis geometry that not only enables the driver to sit in an active driving position, but also gives him the necessary freedom of movement to effectively shift his weight off-road. With its sophisticated geometry, the V-Strom 800DE not only finds a first-class balance between agility and directional stability off-road, but also inspires on-road with excellent handling - from sporty country road tours to motorway journeys with a passenger and luggage.
State-of-the-art assistance systems
The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) helps the driver to experience maximum driving pleasure with his V-Strom 800DE in all situations. One of the highlights of the electronics package is the G (Gravel) mode of the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), which allows controlled slip on the rear wheel. The two-stage ABS, which has a mode specially designed for driving on loose surfaces, is also designed for ambitious off-road use. Experienced adventure riders can even completely deactivate the rear ABS. A bidirectional quick-shift system, a low-RPM assist and the Suzuki easy-start system round off the state-of-the-art peripherals of the characterful two-cylinder.
- The design of the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE reinterprets the Schnabel concept introduced with the legendary DR-Z and continued through the V-Strom family in a contemporary way. In combination with the striking hexagonal LED headlights, the front has an unmistakable, compact appearance. A special eye-catcher is the light metal swing arm with its unique design.
comfort and protection
- The developers of the V-Strom 800DE placed a special focus on comfort and protection. The robust seat is designed for maximum comfort on long tours and withstands even the high loads on unpaved routes. Riders and pillions enjoy the generous amount of space on board - even with mounted side cases and top case from the extensive Suzuki range of accessories.
- The three-stage height-adjustable windshield allows an optimal view in front of the front wheel and still offers the best weather protection. Wide steel footrests with a coarsely structured rubber covering provide a secure hold.
- A plastic underride guard protects the engine when driving in rough terrain and underlines the adventure styling of the V-Strom 800DE. The ample volume of the 20-litre fuel tank enables long ranges without the hassle of having to stop to refuel.
First class equipment
In the cockpit, a high-quality 5-inch color TFT-LCD multifunction instrument provides all relevant information in an easy-to-read display. Lighting and signaling system in full LED design ensure the best visibility and visibility even in difficult lighting conditions.
