Higher performance in Euro 5 format

The Speed Twin's characteristic 1200 cc high-power Bonneville twin engine has been significantly revised for the 2021 model year and now offers even more power and lower emissions at Euro 5 level. With 100 HP at 7.250 rpm, the engine now delivers 3 HP more peak power and has more power in the medium speed range than the previous model. In addition to the incredibly strong and linear power delivery, the Speed Twin 2021 also has a fuller torque curve, with the peak torque of 112 Nm being more than 500 rpm lower in the speed range than the previous generation.

Thanks to a 17 percent reduction in inertia - which was achieved with a new, lightweight crankshaft and alternator - the response behavior of the Speed Twin engine has also been improved. As a result, the engine revs up faster than the previous generation and now reaches a peak speed of 500 rpm. In addition, new pistons with higher compression, revised channels and a new cam profile complete the list of performance improvements.

The unmistakable sound of the Bonneville Twin is defined by the new double megaphone silencers made of brushed stainless steel, with their deep, throaty sound. The innovative and uninterrupted course of the manifold cleverly hides the catalytic converter box and thus ensures the characteristic, straight-lined "straight run" exhaust design.

Evolution in every dimension: TRIUMPH Speed Twin 2021

As with all models in the Modern Classic series from TRIUMPH, the operating costs are kept low thanks to the long maintenance intervals of 16.000 kilometers.

Better handling and even more driving fun

The new generation of the Speed Twin, which is already known for its excellent, nimble handling, benefits from a number of significant upgrades for even more precise, agile and dynamic driving behavior. The 2021 Speed Twin is equipped with a high-quality upside-down fork from Marzocchi with a 43 mm diameter and cartridge damping, which enables even more confidence-inspiring and comfortable driving behavior. In combination with the stereo struts with adjustable spring preload, the new Speed Twin can offer even better handling and the perfect driving behavior of a modern roadster.

The braking performance of the new Speed Twin generation has been further improved with new Brembo 4-piston M50 radial monobloc brake calipers at the front and double 320mm Brembo discs. Together with the floating Nissin two-piston rear brake caliper with 220 mm disc and standard ABS, they ensure optimum response and better metering without fading. The new Metzeler Racetec RR tires in the original equipment are responsible for the best possible grip, precision and stability at high speeds. They are also mounted on new, lighter 17-inch cast aluminum wheels with a 12-spoke design at the front and rear.

The Speed Twin is a perfectly balanced motorcycle that offers intuitive and confidence-inspiring handling. The ergonomics are optimally proportioned with a moderate seat height of 809 mm, a narrow step arch, a tapered handlebar and a comfortable roadster footrest position that is 38 mm further forward and 4 mm lower than with the Thruxton and allows the driver a more relaxed sitting position.

State-of-the-art technology including a 2021 upgrade

The new generation of the Speed Twin is packed with driver-centric technology, including a sophisticated ride-by-wire system that offers precise throttle control and three riding modes: rain, road and sport. These have been further improved for 2021 and adapt both the throttle response and the traction control settings to the driver's preferences. Driving modes can be switched at the touch of a button while driving to respond to any change in driving conditions and maximize driver confidence and safety. The driver can also switch off traction control independently via the instrument menu.

The motorcycle is also equipped with LED taillights and indicators, as well as a characteristic LED daytime running light integrated into the headlight. The modern 3D instruments have a digital menu system that is called up using the scroll button on the handlebar. The driver receives all important information, including gear position, two trip kilometers, fuel level and range as well as average and current fuel consumption and access to the settings of the traction control and the tire pressure display (available as accessories). Other driver-oriented technologies include a USB charging socket under the seat and an immobilizer with a transponder that is integrated into the key.

More premium style and elaborately crafted details

The new Speed Twin combines the timeless DNA of TRIUMPH with a contemporary custom style and comes with even more stylish details in the 2021 outfit. In addition to the new 12-spoke cast wheels and the two raised sporty silencers with brushed stainless steel manifolds, the Speed Twin is characterized by its characteristic 14,5-liter tank with knee indentations, beautiful handlebar end mirrors, shaped side covers and a stylish bench.

High-quality details and surfaces are harmoniously coordinated on the entire motorcycle, including fenders made of brushed aluminum at the front and rear with new brackets as well as side panels and heel guards made of brushed aluminum. Other high-quality details are the new anodized headlight brackets, which complement the painted headlight housing, the classic Monza tank cap and the clear anodized aluminum swing arm.

For the year 2021, the Speed Twin is available in three paint finishes: the new, luminous Red Hopper, the elegant Matt Storm Gray with subtle yellow accents or the timeless Jet Black.

The genesis of a motorcycle icon

The original TRIUMPH Speed Twin from 1938 changed the motorcycle world at that time. It was a revelation for the driver with the world's first successful parallel twin engine integrated into a groundbreaking, modern chassis. Their confident, dynamic handling and their excellent responsiveness made TRIUMPH the world's number one in terms of performance and driving behavior. The first Speed Twin was thus the model for all motorcycles of later generations and acquired the reputation of being the first real "Riders Bike". For the year 2021, the new Speed Twin is once again setting the standard with its balance of high-torque performance, agile and dynamic handling and breathtaking, contemporary custom motorcycle design and character.
