Tracktool: 2022 Yamaha R6 RACE and R6 GYTR presented!

Yamaha's passion for racing is second to none. The Japanese manufacturer has been successfully participating in motorcycle races since the company was founded in 1955. This was also made clear in 2021 by the successes in MotoGP, the FIM Superbike World Championship and the FIM Supersport World Championship. The same applies to numerous national championships. Yamaha always invested a lot of energy and resources in racing so that enthusiasts around the world could pursue their passion with the best equipment - from track days to the bLU cRU series to professional world championships. The high-performance models of the R-series offer the latest engine and chassis technologies, which first had to prove themselves in Yamaha's factory racing motorcycles. Thanks to this constant technology transfer from the racetrack to the road, the R-series motorcycles are always up-to-date.

Yamaha R6 RACE and R6 GYTR

Yamaha wins WorldSSP for the fifth time in a row: Yamaha supports numerous drivers and teams in national and international racing series. So also in the Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP). This collaboration between the manufacturer and the drivers was recently rewarded again with a title. The Swiss Dominique Aegerter from the Ten Kate Yamaha WorldSSP Supported Team won the 6 Supersport World Championship on his Yamaha R2021.

This is the fifth time in a row that a Yamaha has won this prestigious title - proof of the dominance of the new R6, which was launched in 2017. In 2022, Yamaha will again be at the service of supersport riders and teams at every level and will bring with the R6 RACE and the R6 GYTR two exclusive racing motorcycles with outstanding performance at the start.

R6 RACE: Pure R / World

The Yamaha R6 has dominated the WorldSSP for many years. It's the first choice for drivers who really want to win. Given the impressive track record, it is not surprising that the majority of participants in this class opt for the R6 - in both national and international competitions.

The R6 offers thoroughbred racing specifications. The focus is on the powerful 599 cc engine with lightweight forged pistons, titanium valves and a compression ratio of 13,1: 1. With the Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) and the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) as well as an anti-hopping clutch, a closely spaced 6-speed gearbox and the Quick Shifter (QSS) for lightning-fast upshifts without using the clutch at full throttle, the R6 offers an outstanding technology package.

The compact Deltabox frame made of aluminum is complemented by a magnesium rear frame and an aluminum fuel tank, an adjustable 1 mm KYB upside-down telescopic fork similar to the R43 and an adjustable KYB shock absorber. The result: precise handling and optimal control in curves. The radially mounted front brake calipers and the 320 mm brake discs ensure enormous deceleration and thus faster lap times.

The 2022 model of the R6 is available in the attractive Tech Black color with a gold-colored fork. It is "ready for the track" and comes without the components necessary for road traffic such as headlights, indicators, mirrors, horn, license plate holders, pillion seat and pillion footrests. The weight saved in this way benefits the racing performance in full. This bike is not approved for road traffic. Rather, it is an ideal racer for track day riders, but also a perfect base for racing riders who want to build a motorcycle individually for racing.

R6 GYTR: Ultimate supersport racing bike

To further consolidate the national and international dominance of the R6, the new R2022 GYTR will be available for 6. It is sold exclusively through the GYTR PRO SHOPS. The R6 GYTR is aimed at a wide range of customers - from amateur racers to licensed drivers. But it is also the first choice for particularly demanding track day riders who want to further increase the potential of their motorcycle with engine and chassis components as well as other parts from the GYTR range. The R6 GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) comes with numerous racing components from the GYTR range, for example a Superstock ECU that can be programmed via an interface for optimizing engine performance and a racing wiring harness.

The lightweight, performance-enhancing Akrapovič racing exhaust system made of titanium has a maximum of 100 dB. Covers for the air inlet system (AIS) allow the removal of various hoses and components in the intake area. Racing sprockets and a special 520 chain are just as much a part of the equipment as high-quality steel braided brake lines for better braking performance and more precise feedback. The GYTR ABS emulator enables the ABS system to be expanded. Side effect: It saves even more weight. Thanks to the GYTR racing humps and adjustable, recessed footrests, the driver can adopt the ideal racing posture. The circuit diagram can be reversed. The engine is started easily by pressing the start / stop switch. Thanks to the GYTR special tank cap, you don't need any keys.

The R6 GYTR is delivered with a light, white primed, carbon fiber reinforced GRP cladding. Other parts required by the FIM are also included, such as: B. the handbrake lever guard and the rear sprocket guard.

The R6 GYTR is sold exclusively through Yamaha GYTR PRO SHOPS, the most important point of contact for professional and amateur racers. All GYTR PRO SHOPS are run by people for whom motorcycle racing is an affair of the heart and who are themselves active in racing. In addition, these specially qualified companies are in direct contact with the Yamaha Road Racing Technical Service, the European organization for the support of the WorldSBK, WorldSSP and EWC, so that the shops have the necessary know-how and competence to produce an individual racing motorcycle at the highest level Prepare level. There are currently five GYTR PRO SHOPS across Europe. The network is to be expanded with additional shops in 2022.
