Even more precise! 2022 Yamaha WR250F & WR450F Motocross!

Victorious motocross technique in Yamaha's 250 cc Enduro! The technology of the Yamaha Enduros WR250F and WR450F is among the best that the off-road world has to offer. The intelligent solutions include, for example, an engine with an inverted cylinder head and the pioneering Power Tuner smartphone app for quick and easy tuning of the engine directly on the track. The upside-down arrangement with the inlet facing forwards and the outlet facing backwards results in more efficient suction and thus more performance. The fact that the air inlet is at the front and the fuel tank in the middle also results in an ideal centralization of the masses. The rearward sloping cylinder and the “wraparound exhaust” also contribute to the centralization of the masses, which is reflected in agile handling and impressive maneuverability.

Yamaha WR250F & WR450F

The WR250F and WR450F not only offer powerful and easily manageable engines. The outstanding chassis with lightweight aluminum double tube frames, first-class, speed-dependent KYB upside-down telescopic forks and swing arms with articulated spring struts ensure that the bikes remain precisely controllable and stable even in the most demanding terrain. The 2022 WR250F has received an extensive engine and chassis upgrade. The state-of-the-art technology comes from the bike that will dominate the quarter-liter class in motocross in 2021.

So far this year, the YZ250F has won the AMA 250 Supercross racing series East and West and an impressive number of victories in the MX2 World Championship and the AMA 250MX National Championship. With a more powerful engine that delivers more power over the entire speed range, a revised frame with rebalanced strength values and a more powerful braking system, the new WR250F is able to be successful at every level.

The new WR250F: faster and more precise

In enduro racing, the WR250F is already one of the most competitive and best drivable motorcycles in its class. It has a broad, usable torque range that elicits top performance from every driver - regardless of driving ability or off-road experience. In addition, behind the technology that wins in competitions is the premium quality and legendary reliability of Yamaha.

Higher engine power

The liquid-cooled high-tech four-stroke engine of the 2022 WR250F with electric starter has been heavily upgraded with numerous performance-enhancing features from the YZ250F, which is currently victorious in many championships.

Even more precise! 2022 Yamaha WR250F & WR450F Motocross!

One of the key components is the cylinder head derived from the YZ250F. This gives the 2022 WR250F noticeably more power in the middle and upper speed range, with which even faster times can be achieved in special stages. The engine's forward-facing intake has been redesigned and now has the wider intake port of the YZ250F. This new design ensures better intake throughput and thus more efficient combustion and more power over the entire speed range.

An exhaust camshaft with a new cam profile also rotates in the new cylinder head, which contributes to better power development in the lower to medium engine speed range. A new tuning of the ECU optimizes the power delivery of the new engine in all speed ranges. For a little more comfort on long days of competition, there is a newly designed balancer shaft and a new cam that makes shifting smoother and easier. The "wraparound exhaust" got a new heat shield that prevents it from getting stuck and the short silencer got a stronger bracket.

The Power Tuner app for engine tuning via smartphone is particularly interesting for drivers of the WR250F. This innovative software enables the simple, uncomplicated adaptation of the engine characteristics to different track and weather conditions. With two mappings uploaded to the control unit, the driver can even change the performance characteristics while driving using a switch mounted on the handlebar.

Revised frame strength

The WR250F competes in the 2022 racing season with a weight-saving aluminum double-tube frame based on the latest technology from the victorious YZ250F. The frame is made using Yamaha's advanced CF die-casting process. With this technology, different wall thicknesses can be achieved for the frame tubes - as thick as necessary, as thin as possible. This is a crucial factor in adapting the strength balance to the higher performance of the new engine.

Yamaha engineers improved the frame's strength in various places and also installed new, stiffer engine mounts. The resulting chassis is not only extremely resilient, it also gives the driver excellent feedback from the track.

Victorious KYB spring elements

Yamaha's outstanding KYB upside-down telescopic fork with its unsurpassed speed-dependent damping has been further developed. The modifications for the 2022 model year make handling and steering even more sensitive. The setting of the damping has been matched to the revised strength of the new chassis. Further equipment features that refine the driving characteristics are the revised upper triple clamp, the handlebar clamps, the footrests and the front wheel axle.

The swing arm with articulated KYB strut has also been optimized with new damping values. This makes the rear suspension of the WR250 one of the best original enduro equipment on the market.

High-performance front brake as on the YZ250F

Braking performance is just as important as engine performance, and the WR250F 2022 is equipped with a lighter, more powerful front brake, borrowed from the MX2-GP-victorious YZ250F.

Even more precise! 2022 Yamaha WR250F & WR450F Motocross!

The more sophisticated design of the front brake has a 30% stiffer brake caliper, in which pistons enlarged to 25,4 mm operate a new brake disc with a diameter of 270 mm. The corresponding brake pads have 25% more area than before. This means that you can fine-tune and brake powerfully at the same time in order to gain precious seconds.

New multifunctional instrument

On a long, hard day on the slopes, the compact, lightweight, new instrument cluster provides the driver with all the important information. In standard mode, these are the speed, time, driving time and two odometers. In race mode, the key information that matters in an enduro race is available: average speed, driving time and daily kilometers. There is also a display for the average consumption as well as the fuel level and engine warning lights.

New graphics

The graphics, redesigned for 2022, highlight the racing origins of the Yamaha VictorYZone. The Icon Blue paintwork and the dark blue “in-mold” graphics are durable and scratch-resistant and therefore look great in the long term.

WR450F model year 2022

Even more precise! 2022 Yamaha WR250F & WR450F Motocross!

The WR2021F, completely redesigned for the 450 season, is one of the fastest, most robust and technically advanced bikes in its class. Just like the improved WR250F, the WR450F also benefits from many winning technical solutions from its motocross relatives.

High-tech engine with inverted cylinder head

The compact and light 450 cm³ engine of the WR450F has the typical Yamaha cylinder head. Its upside down installation position has a number of advantages, such as higher air intake efficiency. The optimized mass centralization makes its contribution to agile handling. The robust five-speed gearbox and the heavy-duty clutch work gently and reliably even under the toughest conditions. The user-friendly power tuner provides even more versatility, as the engine characteristics can be quickly and easily adapted to almost all conditions.

Light aluminum frame

The lightweight aluminum double tube frame of the WR450F is manufactured using Yamaha's unique CF (Controlled Fill) technology. With this special die-casting technique, different wall thicknesses can be achieved. This in turn creates an ideal strength balance, which is ideal for enduro requirements and provides a fine driving experience and precise feedback.

Excellent spring elements

The suspension behavior is among the best in its class. This is ensured by the much-vaunted KYB upside-down telescopic fork with speed-dependent damping. It ensures perfectly manageable driving behavior at all speeds. At the rear, a specially tuned KYB shock absorber dampens the swing arm via a lever. The suspension of the front and rear wheels is specifically designed for Enduro so that the chassis works effectively at all conceivable speeds and terrain conditions.

The braking system of the WR450F is identical to that of the 2022 WR250F. A 270 mm brake disc at the front and a light brake caliper with large pistons combine a high braking effect with fine controllability. The compact, lightweight multifunctional display includes a speedometer, two trip meters, a clock, timer / stopwatch and a practical consumption display with which drivers and teams can plan refueling stops more precisely.

Painting in Icon Blue

The WR450F with dynamic Icon Blue paintwork and "in-mold" graphics is one of the most impressive and best-equipped bikes in the 450 cm³ class.
