The new Yamaha XSR125 Legacy: A journey through time!

Yamaha Sport Heritage is becoming more and more popular! Ever since Yamaha introduced its first Sport Heritage models, the segment has proved a huge hit with riders of all ages and skill levels. They appreciate these motorcycles because they combine authentic style and individual character with modern technology and sporty driving performance. The XSR brand has quickly established itself as the ultimate range for riders who value iconic bikes with real character and original charm. The current XSR700 and XSR900 pay homage to some legendary Yamaha models of yesteryear. At the same time, the engines, chassis and brakes are technically state-of-the-art. They offer the drivers the best of both worlds.

Growing popularity

The growing popularity of the Yamaha Sport Heritage models has been stimulated in part by the influential customizing scene - notably the company's Yard Built programme, which has inspired and encouraged the implementation of numerous special projects by some of Europe's most creative customisers. Since Yard Built was launched, over 60 exclusive on-road and off-road motorcycles have been created based on Sport Heritage production bikes. The Yard Built movement has shown that Yamaha production models are the ideal basis for conversion into any custom bike imaginable, from flat trackers or scramblers to café racers.

Influenced by some of the most iconic Yamaha designs of the '60s, '70s and '80s and outfitted with timeless features like wire wheels, heritage colors and quality components, these Yard Built Yamahas reinvigorated the custom scene and strengthened the Faster Sons community. The Faster Sons philosophy, which uniquely combines traditional design with modern technology, inspires many riders to personalize their bikes and create something very special that reflects their personal lifestyle while bringing an exciting new dimension to the world of motorcycling. Some of these retro design elements - such as B. the spoked wheels - are now standard equipment on the new XSR125 Legacy. They underline how this stylish motorcycle combines the best of times past with the latest in design and technology.

New XSR125 Legacy: Capturing the spirit of motorcycling

It has always been important to Yamaha to build characterful motorcycles for the widest possible range of riders. Since July 1955, the needs and wishes of drivers have been the focus of the development of new models. The company's customer-oriented philosophy has resulted in legendary and groundbreaking models that have decisively shaped motorcycle construction over the past seven decades. The company's mission can be summed up in the Japanese word "Kando": It's about creating something deeply satisfying that inspires the heart and mind. And the new XSR125 Legacy is a paragon of Kando implementation.

The XSR125 Legacy was developed on the basis of the hugely successful XSR125 that was introduced in 2021. It has the same 125cc engine and chassis geometry. However, the XSR125 Legacy received a number of stylistic overhauls that give its character a distinctive neo-retro look with a truly individual feel. These refinements give the new model a clearly identifiable silhouette and character. They emphasize the connection to classic Yamaha models and the spirit of the Sport Heritage brand: "Inspired by the past, built for the future." The XSR125 Legacy wants to become an integral part of the future for every type of rider, for beginners, advanced or returners who are looking for timeless style and a first-class riding experience with the latest engine and chassis technology.

Lightweight spoked wheels

The XSR125 Legacy offers a number of model-specific features that work together harmoniously and create a very special character. The light spoked wheels are reminiscent of the design of the wheels of the first Yamaha racing motorcycles of the 60s and 70s and decisively characterize the authentic overall impression of this new Sport Heritage motorcycle.

Gold-colored rims

The XSR125 Legacy's classic spoked wheels with their beautiful gold colored alloy wheels underscore the excellent build quality and reinforce the strong connection with some of the legendary Yamaha motorcycles of yesteryear. The combination of spoke wheels and gold rims against the background of completely black attachments and the black frame ensure the truly individual character and timeless look of this 125 neo-retro bike, which perfectly reflects the spirit of the Faster Sons philosophy.

Attractive colors and graphics

The new graphics in the look of the larger XSR models strengthen the close family ties within the Sport Heritage range. Gold- and silver-colored pinstripes emphasize the classic round shape of the fuel tanks and the minimalist, gold-colored graphics on the side panels harmonize perfectly with the gold-colored rims. The tank, side panels and fenders are painted Historic Black. The black of the Deltabox frame, the swingarm, the upside-down telescopic fork and the engine side covers convey a stylish, understated look that perfectly matches the character of this new 125.

High performance Metzeler Karoo tires

The new spoked wheels of the XSR125 Legacy are fitted with high-performance Karoo tires from Metzeler. They ensure the great driving pleasure that this light Faster Sons model conveys. Its block profile fits perfectly with this new sport heritage bike and underlines its ability to deliver exciting performance in a wide range of situations.

Two-piece aluminum muffler cover

XSR Sport Heritage models are known for their attention to detail and the use of high-quality components. The new XSR125 Legacy is no exception. Along with a range of beautifully crafted aluminum brackets and components, this lightweight Faster Sons model has a two-piece aluminum muffler cover that underscores its sporty stance.

Clearly recognizable XSR silhouette

Viewed from the side, the lineage of the XSR125 Legacy is clearly recognizable by the strong horizontal lines. The special combination of spoked wheels, upright riding position, exposed mechanics and the naked bike look are appreciated by riders who know what they want.

First-class 125 cm³ engine with 11 kW (15 hp)

The XSR125 Legacy is powered by one of the most popular and successful engines in the 125cc category. This powerful and reliable 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 125-valve engine is identical to the MT-125 Hyper Naked and R11 Supersport engines. With an output of 15 kW (1 hp), which is the maximum permitted for driving license categories A196 and BXNUMX, this highly valued engine is a powerful all-rounder.

One of its main technical features is the Yamaha VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) system. It provides powerful torque even in the lower speed range, while at the same time providing high performance in the upper speed range. This is what makes the XSR125 Legacy so powerful in a variety of situations – from fast motorway driving to cruising down country roads – the generous torque delivery always ensures lively acceleration.

37mm inverted forks

The black finish of the XSR37 Legacy's 125mm inverted front forks complements the black frame and engine perfectly. The fork is just one example of the first-class equipment. Whether you're tackling winding mountain roads, navigating city traffic or going on a weekend tour, the fork offers good stability and precise handling.

High-strength and light Deltabox frame

The legendary Deltabox frame was originally developed for the company's Grand Prix racing bikes. It ensures precise handling and confidence-inspiring straight-line stability. In this way, the driver can fully exploit the potential of the first-class 11 kW (15 hp) engine. With a compact wheelbase of 1.330 mm and a low seat height of 815 mm, XSR riders can look forward to agile handling and relaxed ergonomics.

Stylish LED lighting

Another example of the successful combination of timeless retro design and modern technology is the high-tech lighting system. In a classic round housing, the LED headlight with LED position light produces a bright beam of light for good seeing and being seen. The compact LED taillight emphasizes the light and elegant profile of the slim, sporty rear.
