We wanted to know: what is the use of the Audew car cover with 6 layers of material that can be used as a car tarpaulin (car garage) as a waterproof and dirt-repellent full garage for the car. Version YL (YL: 475 * 193 * 143) of the breathable car garage for winter and summer only cost € 42,99 including shipping directly from Audew. When unpacking it is noticeable that a thick material was used, which according to Audew consists of PE, aluminum, EVA and cotton. This tarp is said to be more functional and durable than 99% of the other tarpaulins on the market. The provider even promises no coverage within six months "Damage not made by humans" suffers. The Audew car cover is waterproof, dustproof, offers protection from snow, sun and is UV-resistant. The anti-fouling protection and anti-aging effect ensures thermal insulation and high temperature resistance.

the material looks high quality

In addition, there is the cover with reflectors at the front and rear as well as on the bulges for the exterior mirrors. The 475 x 193 x 143 cm variant was intended for our Audi A3 3-door and is the smaller version from Audew. In addition, there is the type YXL (XL: 500 * 193 * 150) which is intended for vehicles like a BMW 7 Series, Mercedes GLE or Audi A8. But already when unpacking it becomes clear that even the small Variant seems pretty lush. While all of the above-mentioned properties are fulfilled or at least understandable at first glance, the question immediately arises whether an Audi A4 or A6 would not be better off underneath. And our video shows that this should also be confirmed. The tarpaulin is really very large and especially the actually well-thought-out bulges for the exterior mirrors make no sense for our car. Normally you fold in the outside mirrors of the vehicle when you stand for a long time, but then the bulges fit even worse.

all in all, just too big for an Audi A3

In our opinion, the biggest shortcoming is clearly the attachment to the vehicle. The sewn buckles allow a firm fit under the bumpers, but the band and the plastic buckles do not leave the impression that they should be tightened so far that the sides are tight against the vehicle. We tried to tighten the belt with the greatest possible pulling force, but at a certain point did not pull it further because of fear of damage. The drawstring under the vehicle was already extremely tight. The result is unfortunately the fact that the wind can move almost unhindered under the tarpaulin and we cannot imagine that this should last in the long run. The integrated elastic band at the front and back does not serve any purpose due to its size, at least for our vehicle. Very likely a very good product for a car in an enclosed space, but almost unsuitable for outdoor use due to the general dimensions and the lack of lashing on the sides.

Advantages & features

  • thick six-layer material made of PE, aluminum, EVA, cotton
  • functional and durable
  • Waterproof, dustproof, snow protection, sun protection, UV-resistant, anti-fouling, anti-aging, heat insulation, high temperature resistance
  • Straps with buckles at the front and back for lashing
  • Reflectors at the front and rear and on the bulges of the exterior mirrors
  • Elastic band at front and back
  • Bulges for the rearview mirror
  • storage bag

Disadvantages:

  • way too big for our vehicle
  • no elastic band or lashing options on the sides
  • Plastic buckles, especially in winter, certainly not durable
  • Cutouts for the mirrors hardly usable
