Mercedes-Benz G500 Schulz 6 × 6 tuning conversion

Reading time 2 Min.

news from the primary rock and quasi-direct ancestor of today's known Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6 × 6, the G500 Schulz. Long before Mercedes produced the G63 6 × 6, which is known today, in series, the German designer Erich Schulz (corr.) Converted an ordinary Mercedes G500 into a military vehicle for a few well-heeled Arab customers. We know a few details about tuning the Mercedes G500. What we have learned we have listed below for you in a small summary.

(Photos: Avito)

These are the details we know:

  • darkened windows
  • possibly an increase in performance - Chiptuning, tuning box (info is still pending)
  • possibly a sports exhaust system (info is still pending)
  • tri-Axal four-wheel drive SUV
  • exclusively for use in the military for Arab customers
  • 5,0-liter engine V8
  • 251 PS
  • Automatic
  • leather seats
  • Audio system
  • big TV screen
  • two air conditioners
  • Phone
  • Minibar

Our reader Lars informed us that the company "Schulz Tuning" was based in Korschenbroich (Neuss) and that the car was built under the direction of Erich Schulz. He also made the following pictures and the press report that shows that the tuner not only worked on the G-Class but also exclusive models such as the 500 SEC or the 190 (Schulz even had a 5.0 V8) as a convertible offered. The BMW brand was also refined, in addition to a BMW 5 series station wagon (I'm assuming the E28 model) there was also the legendary 6 series BMW from Schulz Tuning as a convertible.

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas

  1. Good day,

the above mentioned conversion comes from Korschenbroich (Neuss) and was not rebuilt by Erich Eberhard Schulz.
The company at that time was called Schulz Tuning & was known for extra Mercedes conversions.

    Sincerely,

    Lars

  2. Hi Lars,

Thank you for your information. We received our information partly from Wikipedia and partly from a non-German website. We had a lot of trouble translating it. Of course we will correct the contribution accordingly.

    I thank you!
