From the US rim manufacturer HRE Performance Wheels There is news about the production process for making rims. The whole thing is called HRE3D + and is a manufacturing process that is similar to the 3D printing process. It could revolutionize the manufacture of rims! With HRE3D +, the wheels are made from different layers of titanium powder, almost like in the 3D printing process. HRE has this procedure in cooperation with GE additives developed and already the first prototypes of the new 3D rims at the start. EBM (Electron Beam Melting) process
Using the EBM (Electron Beam Melting) process, HRE3D + takes an electron beam that fuses the titanium powder together. The ready-to-drive rim consists of a multitude of layers of molten titanium. In our opinion, HRE has reached a completely new level with the HRE3D + in terms of titanium rims. Such a complex design, as the prototype shown here shows, is unthinkable with the conventional manufacture of titanium rims. Totally crazy what additive manufacturing (3D printing) allows for patterns and shapes.

Currently, the rims are still made of several parts and finally screwed together. But most likely it's just a matter of time before a titanium wheel out of one piece created in this way. But even if you absolutely want to go into series production, you must not forget at the moment that the HRE3D + wheel is currently just a design and manufacturing concept. So you can be curious.
