Music from the smartphone in the car? Bluetooth makes it possible!

Whether telephoning or transmitting music to be able to hear it, a lot is possible with Bluetooth in the car. And so the option is a useful addition to a car radio. But to be able to make optimal use of the possibilities of Bluetooth, it must also be available. So not only the smartphone must have the appropriate function to send files, but also the car radio to receive them. Unfortunately, this is not the case with every car radio, so depending on the car radio under certain circumstances save direct retrofitting of Bluetooth is possible. There are no other requirements, such as the car or a dependency on a car model.

Differences in the Bluetooth adapter

If the car radio does not have an integrated Bluetooth, it must be retrofitted. Retrofitting is possible, for example, with a so-called Bluetooth adapter. However, there are completely different models here, some of which differ significantly in their performance. You should look closely and compare when buying a Bluetooth adapter. Especially since there are also differences with regard to equipment with controls. Such as a button for play, for random play, a change function when playing or taking a call, if one Hands-free function to be coupled to it. Due to the fact that it is equipped with different controls, you have easy control and do not need to use your smartphone to operate it. And thanks to the built-in control system, you also enjoy more safety on the road, because the simple mode of operation does not distract you so much. A closer look is also worthwhile with a Bluetooth adapter in other respects. Namely with the costs! There is a wide range here. If you have a Bluetooth adapter, it has the task of receiving the radio signal from the Bluetooth of the smartphone and playing it back on the car radio. Of course, all devices can do this. The most diverse additional functions, however, lead to equally different prices.

The AUX socket must be available

The Bluetooth adapter has a connection and a corresponding cable with a connector. The cable must be plugged into the car radio to work. In order to use the adapter for Bluetooth, the car radio must have a AUX socket with 3.5 mm jack. Fast retrofitting is only possible if the AUX socket with 3.5 mm input is available. If this connection is available, you only have to plug in the adapter and you can immediately use Bluetooth to receive the signal from the smartphone.

Transmitter as a conditional alternative

If the jack connection is not available, you can use an alternative FM Transmitter be used. The transmitter is simply plugged into the cigarette lighter and it receives the Bluetooth signal from the smartphone after pairing, as does the variant with a 3.5 mm connection. However, the transfer is different. The transmitter sends a radio signal that can then be received over a selected frequency. Music or the hands-free function can also be used in this way. However, the quality is often significantly worse and also less secure. If this variant is not an alternative, only the exchange of the helps radio unit against a variant with an integrated Bluetooth module. Here you should note, however, that a possible steering wheel remote control, the sound system or other components of the vehicle no longer function and harmonize across the board.
