Who of us does not know Her Majesty's Secret Agent James Bond? The exciting action films have been around for decades and they are definitely classics. James Bond is also always connected with the technical development of the time when the movies came on the screen. The cars he drives are a special symbol of this. They still have cult status and are inseparable from the figure James Bond connected. In the following article, we introduce you to the hottest cars from the films the agent drove.

Aston Martin

The first leading actor in the James Bond series was Sean Connery. "James Bond - 007 chases Dr. No ”was the opening film and was released in 1962. The car brand Aston Martin is the preferred vehicle in many James Bond movies with Sean Connery, such as “Greetings from Moscow”, “Goldfinger” or “Fireball”. For example, the secret agent drives an Aston Martin DB5, a grand tourer of the British luxury brand of the same name. The color is relatively neutral with battleship gray. The car has a four-liter engine and a top speed of 233 km / h. In most cases, the Aston Martin DB 5 in the James Bond films is equipped with great accessories. In addition to the license plate, which contains the initials of the secret agent, you could see a teleprinter (actually a CD player) or champagne cooler as an accessory in the corresponding car. There were also water cannons or a shotgun hidden behind the headlights. 1

The Aston Martin DB5 from “Goldfinger” was purchased in 2010 by the car collector Harry Yeaggy for the price of USD 4,6 million, including the corresponding accessories.

The DB5 appears for the first time in the novel "Casino Royale". Here, and also in a flashback in the 2006 film, James Bond wins the car in a poker game in the Bahamas.

Although without Aston Martin DB5, you can get one from some live casino providers, such as at Sunmaker feel like the secret agent playing poker. The Live Casino in particular brings you a casino feeling similar to that in the famous James Bond film.

Lotus

The Lotus also plays a role in two James Bond films as the vehicle of the secret agent. Roger Moore starred in “The Spy Who Loved Me” from 1977 and drove a Lotus S1 Esprit from the English car brand of the same name. The Esprit S1 was built between 1974 and 2004 and only 10.500 units were delivered. With a top speed of almost 220 km / h and the elegant, sporty design, it fits the action theme perfectly. In the said movie, the Lotus S1 is equipped with special accessories - it has aquatic abilities. That earned him the name "Wet Nellie". At the same time, he can also activate an anti-aircraft system in underwater mode. The white Lotus S1 Esprit is on display at the National Motor Museum in Beaullieu, which purchased the car at an auction in 2013 for $ 865.000.

Another Lotus - the Esprit Turbo - appeared in "James Bond 007 - In Deadly Mission", which was released in 1981. Roger Moore also plays the main role here. It is also the first film about the secret agent that is not based on one of Ian Flemming's novels. The Lotus Esprit that James Bond drives in this classic film reaches a top speed of almost 250 km / h. The car appears twice in the film. The white version is equipped with a self-destruct system that is activated as soon as the passenger's window with the relevant information is hit. The second model is driven by James Bond in a ski area in northern Italy in the same film. The original can be admired in the Orlando Auto Museum.

Conclusion

If the hot sleighs didn't appear in James Bond films, they would be one attraction poorer. In addition to the car brands already presented, many other cars are part of the feature films. The AMC ("The man with the golden gun", Moonraker - top secret "), BMW (" Goldeneye "," Tomorrow never dies ") or Jaguar ("Die Another Day", "Skyfall") as James Bond cars play a big role. In many cases, they are equipped with useful accessories and properties. These can be hidden weapon systems, brake parachutes or other gadgets. We have found that most performers often choose a particular car brand and stay true to it. Sports and luxury brands in particular are at the center of the action in the popular James Bond films.

  1. Really a classy Aston Martin, the DB5. I like it very much, would really like to do a lap 🙂
By the way, there were already some models who played the "leading role" in the James Bond films:

Have a good trip and best regards
