In three days the time has come - on Sunday, September 16, from 9 a.m. (entry 8 a.m.), the airfield in Lahr will once again be the venue for the drag race Rolling50 / 1000, The aim is to break the previous world record of 359 km / h. This has been done by the driver Paul Faton (from Paul Cars) in a Porsche 9FF (based on Porsche 997) with approx. 1.600 hp. Of course, there are also the "usual suspects" Lamborghini's, McLaren, Bugatti's, Ferrari's, Mercedes or Corvette's at the start who belong to such an event. The competition starts with one rolling Start in which two cars compete against each other. From the starting line it goes from 50 km / h up to the finish line in 1000 m distance.
Predominantly there are vehicles with street approval at the start which are rarely equipped with a factory output of under 300 PS. Average 700 PS are not uncommon and tuning is allowed. But also the safety is guaranteed because every vehicle is subjected to a safety check and various safety guidelines from motorsport before the start. Alcohol is not allowed on the premises, but there is an open paddock as well as food and soft drinks. The organizer SCC 500 wants to give the event a clear signal against illegal road races set and show that such a showdown is always on the racetrack.
