Times are changing! The American e-specialist Polykup has grabbed a first-generation Audi S5 and equipped the Ingolstadt-based company with the technology of a Tesla Model S P85. But it only worked because the specialists disconnected the motor from the factory-connected inverter.
The inverter has now found space on the left-hand side and can do its job. The 85 kWh battery from the Model S provides enough "juice" with its 16 battery modules in the rear of the vehicle. Instead, the S5 no longer has a back seat, but the luggage compartment has been completely preserved and usable. Allegedly, the range should even be up to 370 km and the S5 is charged via the well-known charging socket of the Model S, which is hidden under the fuel cap. The automatic six-speed automatic transmission transfers the power, as usual, to all four wheels via the factory Quattro all-wheel drive and you can see how well it all works in the following video.
