If you have to look for a parking space for your car in a big city, for example, you certainly know the problem of too little and too little parking space. Therefore, many drivers want to improve their personal parking space situation. The so-called car lifts, with which cars can be literally "stacked", are particularly known from the major American cities. This allows the parking space to be used to the maximum. This trend seems to be reaching Germany too, as parking space is becoming increasingly scarce here too.

If you want to design a parking space on a narrow lot, you may well consider the options of a car lift. This practical system works as follows: comparable to a passenger lift, the car can be moved into a driving cab, which can then be raised or lowered up or down. Here, for example, driving on an underground car park or garage is possible without a large driveway. Of course, a not inconsiderable infrastructure is necessary for such a car-lifting system, this is of course associated with corresponding costs. Most of these systems are designed for a lifting capacity of about 2000 kilograms, so that most compact cars can be easily raised and parked hereby. For heavy vehicles (SUVs, off-road vehicles), correspondingly more solid facilities must be considered. The autolifts / car lifts (also CarLift, CarTurn) can also be designed as a complete parking garage: then, with a lift over many floors, cars can be distributed like in a storage rack. However, this application is certainly not typical for the private sector.

There are different versions of the lifting systems, these can be operated either by a spindle electrically or hydraulically. Certainly, an installation by a specialist is recommended and sometimes the only way. In addition, a Bauabnahme is necessary! If a garage construction is to be combined with a car lift, the approval of the building authority must also be taken into account, comparable to garages or garages. The autolift thus falls more in the field of construction planning than in the field of tuning. And finally ... A car lift can optimize the parking situation, but this does not incur negligible costs. The system usually has to be installed by a specialized company, as well as the running costs for maintenance and repair must be considered (similar to passenger lifts there are usually maintenance contracts). In a precarious parking situation, the autolift is still a sensible alternative to create parking space. And whoever makes it particularly casual, drives his car into the elevator cabin and thus gets directly into his living room. This makes your own car an attractive piece of furniture!
