In most cases, door projectors or entrance lights serve as a boarding aid for the driver, who is ultimately supposed to recognize even in poor light conditions whether he is getting in or out of his vehicle correctly and not stepping into a puddle. However, these tools are also used in the field of autotuning, where you want to create a more beautiful or dynamic look. When it comes to autotuning, you have to be very well informed, because only certain colors and shapes are permitted, which you can find in countless online dealers but also in car accessories around the corner. If it is just a question of lighting that is not glaring or even flickers, you can usually install it without special permission.

Such permission is only required if it is a so-called laser logo, which uses a laser to project an individual logo onto the street, or if certain colors such as blue or red are used. These are often reserved as alarm signals and are therefore not permitted in many cases because you want to avoid confusion on the road. Regardless of the colors, you also have to check the individual logos, since the motifs have to comply with the law. If you are not sure about this or have doubts, it would make sense to consult an expert. In terms of technology, almost any motif can be used as long as no small details have to be shown. Photos would therefore not make sense because they would appear blurred.

How is the individual door lighting installed?

If your vehicle has door lighting installed anyway, you can use this line. First of all, for safety reasons, you should disconnect the battery and then remove the old lighting. If you have purchased a system that is plug-and-play for your vehicle, all you have to do is connect the new lighting and you're done. If not, you'll need to make the necessary adjustments. If the lighting is a projector, you also have to make sure that it is pointing downwards. If there is no lighting in your vehicle, the cables must first be laid. The best way to do this is to go to your trusted garage, as a door contact must also be installed.

To make it clear to you how exchange We have created a short video of what happens when the entrance lighting is already installed as standard. The necessary components (LED door projectors) and the individual slides (models M Logo/M Performance Slides) can be seen in the trailer. Since such lighting is already installed in the G30 ex works and since it is a modification using BMW components, the change is quick and easy. Out with the old lighting, in the door projector with the desired slide, done!

In the case of the BMW projectors with the part number 63 31 2 468 386 (68 mm), these are the F20, F21, M140i 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, X1, X2, X3, X4, X5 , X6, Z4 & Co. suitable. The slides with part number 63 31 2 469 631 also fit.
