Driving safety training - the right thing for everyone!

Driving safety training can run and run very differently. The exact schedule of the training depends on the course chosen. However, completing driver safety training can definitely be advantageous for motorcyclists, car drivers and professional drivers. The training imparts knowledge and can contribute to traffic safety. The course of the training also depends on the previous knowledge of the participants and the existing vehicles. But driver safety training can also be useful for drivers of modified vehicles. For example, if you have already completed driving safety training with the production vehicle, participating again with the modified vehicle can explain the differences in the technical changes. How does the vehicle react? How do the new components change driving behavior, etc.? This enables a direct comparison!

Tailored to traffic situations and needs!

Driving safety training - the right thing for everyone!

Driver safety training courses are offered in the form of special courses. The courses can be tailored to specific traffic situations and needs, but also to tuned vehicles and those in series condition. Depending on the course, the previous knowledge of the participants can also be included in the training elements. It is generally advisable to attend such a course, which builds on the previous knowledge of the course participants and thus has a special added value for the participants.

How does driving safety training work?

The course of a driving safety training has basic components and elements that vary from course to course. A theoretical introduction is part of the course of the training. Practical exercises often start after the introduction. Most courses include braking exercises, skidding courses and driving on various surfaces. When it comes to driver safety training for novice drivers, certain topics are often highlighted or safety topics repeated until the participants have internalized them. The same applies, of course, to the aforementioned driving safety training for modified vehicles. They are rare, but they do exist. The exact course of driving safety training also depends on the vehicles that can be used and on the organizer.

anticipatory driving as a focus

Predictive driving is often the focus of driver safety training. The participants should learn a forward-looking driving style or should be able to expand it further. Participants in such a course should be able to better assess their own reactions in certain traffic situations. Many organizers can train with their own vehicle. This can be a motorcycle, truck or car, depending on the course and organizer. If you do not want to use your own vehicle, you can also rent a vehicle from some organizers. If you have, for example, modified a current VW Golf, it makes sense to borrow a standard identical Golf on site. This is the perfect way to experience the changes.

Where do the courses take place?

As a rule, driver safety training takes place in a driver safety center. The courses and centers are subject to the rules of the DVR. DVR is the abbreviation for the German Road Safety Council. The organizers of driver safety training include the traffic watchdogs of the federal states and the ADAC. Automobile manufacturers can also offer driver safety training. The courses may only be carried out by trainers who are DVR-certified.

For which vehicles are driver safety training courses offered?

The courses are offered for motorcycles, trucks and cars. There is also special driving safety training for caravans, vehicles with trailers and buses. Driver safety training is also offered for emergency vehicles, emergency vehicles and even for off-road vehicles. There is a special course for each vehicle. Basically, we are not aware of any vehicle type for which there is no driving safety training. However, the offer varies depending on demand.

Process example - driver safety training

In addition to the theoretical introduction to safety, practical exercises are also carried out. For example, the courses practice driving on different road surfaces and various weather conditions can be simulated. Braking exercises and evasive maneuvers are also part of many course exercises. In car safety training, understeer and oversteer are often practiced with the vehicle. Furthermore, slalom, cornering and reverse driving are trained with the participants. Exercises on loading behavior and tipping safety in various traffic situations are also carried out with the truck. Anyone who conducts driving safety training on a motorcycle will, for example, perform incline training and braking exercises. Riding a two-wheeler on various surfaces is also practiced.

Debriefing and training evaluation

After the training, debriefings and training evaluations take place. The debriefings are about realistic assessments. The duration of the training depends on the course. The courses can last 8 hours or just 5 hours. There are also courses that are set up over several days. Events that take place over a weekend can also be offered by organizers.
