The Essen Motor Show is an automobile trade fair with a focus on automobiles, motorsport, car tuning, tuning in general and old and young timers. The fair, which takes place annually at the end of November or at the beginning of December (this year from Saturday, 30. November to the
Sunday, 8. December) was quartered in the exhibition halls of Messe Essen in the Essen-Rüttenscheid district. The Essen Motor Show was held for the first time in 1968, back then under the name “1. International Sports and Racing Car Exhibition Essen ”. The organizer at the time, Wolfgang Schöller, is still the coordinator of the event today. When the fair opened its doors for the first time, it already had more than 50.000 visitors. In the 1970s, the title of the fair was changed due to personal connections in “Jochen-Rindt-Show - Int. As expected, both the exhibition area and the number of visitors increased and doubled compared to the first exhibition. Since the previously independent motorcycle show at Messe Essen was integrated into the event, the 1978 fair was named “Int. Motor Show Essen ”. In 1982 a separate exhibition area was created, which is reserved for vintage and classic cars. Five years later, in 1987, the ADAC became the ideal sponsor of the event. A short time later, in 1990, the fair was expanded again. The topic of tuning became more topical and since 1992 it has existed in cooperation with the VDAT (Association of German Automobile Tuners) with the VDAT Salon an area reserved for car tuning.
