Fill up with cola instead of petrol – is that possible?

That cola isn't particularly healthy for humans isn't news. However, cars do not tolerate the lemonade very well either. A video shows the consequences that filling up with cola can have. And these can sometimes be far-reaching. Taras Maksimuk aka TechRax, a Youtuber from Ukraine, attempted to fill the tank of a BMW 325i with coke. The result of the experiment is as surprising as it is devastating.

Fill up with coke instead of petrol

According to Maksimuk, there was still a small amount of petrol in the tank of the 325i before it was filled with the cola. The tank therefore easily offered enough space for a 2 liter shower. A subsequent check of the engine initially showed no irregularities, so it was decided to carry out a test drive. The start of the test drive with the homemade cocktail of cola and petrol went smoothly at first. The vehicle accelerated normally and stopped at the first stop sign before accelerating again. The BMW reached the second stop sign without any problems, but after about 60 seconds a strange noise could be heard coming from the engine. Maksimuk guessed it was the fizz. Shortly thereafter, the check engine light came on and finally the attempt culminated in absolute inability to drive. Multiple attempts to restart were unsuccessful.

Immense costs to restore driving readiness

The question arises how to deal with a BMW in a cola coma. Maksimuk took the vehicle to a workshop. $135 was charged to establish the cause of the engine failure. The unfitness to drive due to coke in the fuel tank was then also recorded in the bill. But the BMW was by no means ready to drive again. To do this, the fuel pump and filter had to be replaced and the tank cleaned of the remains of the lemonade. The costs that the workshop calculated for this amounted to a whopping 1.502 dollars. Maksimuk was lucky in his misfortune. The engine had not been permanently damaged by the experiment. Otherwise the costs would have been much higher.

Further experiments – alcohol in the Porsche tank

However, Maksimuk did not become wise from the damage. Furthermore, it is particularly important to him to use cars for his videos. Another idea he recently realized: He filled up a Porsche with alcohol instead of petrol. He also documented the outcome of this experiment on video and it can be viewed directly here. A big advantage offered by the Internet is that almost every idea, no matter how crazy, has already been tried out and the viewer of the video is spared his own experience.

Of course, that wasn't the end of it!
