Entertainment is Amazon's goal when it comes to moving the popular Fire TV platform to even more areas. At the electronics fair CES 2020 in Las Vegas, Amazon announced the collaboration with Fiat-Chrysler and BMW. BMW was Amazon's first partner when Alexa was integrated into the vehicle. Next, BMW wants to use the Fire TV functions in future vehicles. Fiat-Chrysler also has these plans. For the integration of the Fire TV functions into the car, Amazon has the companies Garmin and Voxx as partners. The Fire TV equipment is especially intended for the rear seats. Touchscreen control is possible. This enables the children to watch TV series and films during a long drive. The data is received via the LTE supply available in the car or via WLAN. Voice control by means of a call sign is also possible.
Fire TV devices with offline function
And unlike the other Fire TV devices, an offline function will also be possible. In this way, TV series and films can be downloaded in advance and viewed without an internet connection. This function is available in Amazon's Prime Video app. However, it is currently not entirely clear whether other providers such as Netflix in the version for cars of a Fire TV app will provide the offline function. Selected content can be used on Netflix for offline use. Amazon videos have no such limitation. Improvement for Fire TV sound bars
And Amazon has also announced new features for Fire TV sound bars. The first Fire TV soundbar was created by Amazon Anker announced at Ifa 2019 in Berlin. Amazon would like to bring out more sound bars together with Polk Audio, TCL and Tonly. The Fire TV sound bars are provided with Dolly Atmos support, HDMI switching, voice control and control of other devices. These functions are available in the Fire TV Cube.
