Currently the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Team dominates the events in the Formula 1. The team around drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valterri Bottas has not been beaten so far and is now almost unassailable in the lead after six rounds of the season. The British defending champion has always finished in the top two and won four of the six races.

Because of the dominance of the Silver Arrows, many are now wondering whether Hamilton can set or even break the record for victories in a Formula 1 season. Currently this is 13 victories in one year. This best performance was set up by Michael Schumacher in 2004 during his very successful time at Ferrari and in 2013 by Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull.

While Schumacher set the record in a season that consisted of 18 races, Vettel already had 19. This season there are now 21 races. The larger number of races and the very good start of the season for the British are now factors that suggest that the Mercedes driver could manage to set a new record. He would currently only have to win nine of the last 15 races. If he holds the current pace, he would still win 10 Grand Prix this season and thus surpass Schumacher's record.

Of course, it is difficult to predict how the season will go on, but there is nothing to indicate that the current balance of power may change. Hamilton, who is considered the best driver in the field, coupled with the clearly best car of the season, can only be beaten by mistakes or unfortunate victories. In this way, Hamilton could not only become world champion for the sixth time and thus move closer to record world champion Schumacher with the exception of one title, but at the same time continue to collect points in the discussion about the best F1 driver in history.

Hamilton's previous record for one-season wins is just 11, which he achieved in 2014 and 2018. Of course, this is also an achievement that cannot be assessed highly enough, but despite his great successes, Hamilton is still very hungry and ambitious and wants to do everything possible to achieve legendary status. If Mercedes remains so dominant and the Briton continues to be hungry for success, he could soon compete with record champion Michael Schumacher in terms of world championship titles. This is to be expected from the British. But switching to another motorsport class is also an option. Hamilton had expressed an interest in Formula E in the spring. If he were to become world champion in the increasingly popular class, he would definitely be the best racing driver of all time.
