Ingenext supplies "Nice-Try-Module" for Tesla warning!

The image of the e-car manufacturer from Fremont is considered visionary. And for some years now, Tesla Motors has been integrating so-called software locked capabilities into its vehicles. Against a (sometimes extremely mocking) The manufacturer then has them activated for an additional charge. Other automobile manufacturers such as Porsche are also pursuing the same approach with its Taycan model. Manufacturers pay dearly for their upgrades.

Hack against patch. Who wins?

But the new Tesla 3 is easier to tune thanks to the built-in computer technology than it was some time ago. The software update is imported, the lock is released; the function is then available. Finished! The acceleration eBoost module for the Tesla 3, for example, increases the electric motor output by almost 50 hp. In addition, the acceleration is improved - from 0 to 100 in 3.9 seconds. Cost point 2.000 euros. Ingenext, a Canadian company, which we have already reported on, also offers the update. In addition to the improved engine performance, the Drift mode played, in which the ESP is switched off. This guarantees driving fun for those who want it. The cost is 1.000 euros - just half as much as Tesla charges. And a bonus module also makes it possible to control the windscreen wipers manually and to open storage spaces with the help of proximity sensors. All for a lot less money! Tesla recently responded with a warning. If the third-party software is recognized, a message appears on the car's touchscreen that incompatible vehicle modifications are present. However, the vehicle remains drivable.

The 'Nice Try Module' - a clear message to Tesla

Shortly afterwards, Ingenext announced that an extended update was being worked on. With the adjustments made, Tesla should no longer be able to detect the modification of their own software. And now the time has come. An additional hardware module with the imprint 'Nice try module‚Was sent to Ingenext customers. The included software suppresses the message on the Tesla touchscreen. A simple update for the original Ingenext module is not enough, explains the Electrek portal. Of course, Tesla doesn't like that. Because the in-house tuning package definitely increases the quarterly profit. It is unlikely that Tesla will voluntarily do without it. So the head-to-head race goes into the next round. To what extent e-car software will increasingly become a playing field for hackers in the future - regardless of whether they are good or bad - remains to be seen.
