Due to low interest rates and rising vehicle values, classic cars are becoming more and more an investment - and are therefore increasingly becoming the focus of car thieves like MICARE PS - knows: "The number of thefts of classic cars worth between 25.000 and 150.000 euros continues to increase." The company Missing Car Register maintains a vehicle register under the brand name MICARE PS. In addition to the existing database for stolen classic cars, the MICARE PS platform at www.micare-ps.com now offers new theft protection for classic cars: NFC chips. NFC stands for Near Field Communication and is used for data exchange over short distances - in everyday life, for example when making contactless payments with an EC card. A URL is stored on the MICARE PS NFC chips that contains a security code that is unique worldwide. This URL can be scanned with the freely available MICARE PS NFC app and takes the user directly to their vehicle in the register.

Cars or individual parts of them that are found again after a theft can be quickly and clearly assigned to their owner. Another advantage: This procedure also works if car thieves falsify or remove the chassis number. "With such manipulations, legally unequivocal identification of a vehicle is often extremely difficult and sometimes simply impossible, even for experts," says Martin Stromberg, himself an expert and managing director of Classic Data Marktbeobachtung GmbH & Co. KG. NFC chips solve this problem and also have a preventive effect: Although they do not prevent theft, the information that they are being used, for example with a clearly visible, coded car badge on the vehicle, scares off criminals.

"The customer receives an individually coded SET from us with ten self-adhesive on-metal NFC chips, which he can hide in various places and components in and on the vehicle," explains Managing Director Antonina Stumpfernagel. And she adds: “By the way, potential thieves cannot simply walk past the car with their smartphones to locate possible chips, since the chips cannot be read out by metal. The unbeatable advantage of our NFC solution is that the smartphone has to be held up to the chips in the millimeter range for the transmission to work. And only the owner of the vehicle knows the exact position of the hiding places ”. Tiny chips, big impact: The risk of being caught after the theft increases considerably thanks to the technical marking. The package costs just 69,90 euros to launch and is available online at www.micare-ps.com, Amazon and Ebay.
