When buying a rear carrier, it makes sense to demand comprehensive advice from the dealer. In the shop, the assembly can often be tried out right away. Of course, official test results published on the Internet or in specialist magazines and reviews by customers who already use the system are helpful in making a pre-selection. It makes sense to focus on rear carrier with EU certification mark, as they do not have to be demonstrated separately at the TÜV. If the rear carrier is to be used permanently, it is advisable not to look at every penny, but to invest a little more.

Before it begins….

In principle, it is advisable to call in a specialist during assembly to avoid damage to the car. Although all the important information can usually be found in the assembly instructions, the name plate of the rear carrier (also called the tailgate carrier / bicycle carrier) and the operating instructions for the vehicle, it is always better for the layperson to have an expert at his side. Incidentally, this applies to all smaller and larger tuning tasks. Since a rear carrier can influence the driving behavior of the vehicle through its own weight and its attachment, a little caution is of course advised. If the rear carrier has been installed professionally and selected according to the vehicle type, problems will rarely arise. Therefore, it is always better to ask a specialist workshop to auto-tune and mount the rear rack so that driving pleasure is not impaired in any way. And it should be borne in mind that in many cases such a rear carrier is also a separate license plate required.
