Stencil: Tuning with a template for a new look

Would you like a new look without a lot of work or sensitivity? In this case “Stencil” (Stencil art / font) is the right choice. You already used a kind of stencil in kindergarten because it involves painting with a stencil. When tuning, everything takes place on a larger scale, so that you can give a vehicle a new look within a few minutes. Of course, there are now many stencil templates that your car will benefit from.

Stencil - A stencil

Literally translated, "stencil" means stencil. The word comes from English, where it was introduced mainly with regard to graffiti or street art. In Germany, however, stencil can also be called stencil art. The French term “pochoir” is rather rare. This is surprising, because Blek le Rat in France gave art the first real attention. Even if stencil is used a lot in graffiti today, it is still a simple and quick tuning measure.

How are Stencil applied?

The application is surprisingly uncomplicated, which is why people without artistic skills can beautify their own vehicle. As a rule, the stencil is made of cardboard, but there are also models made of plastic or laminated paper. Especially in the tuning sector, plastic is very popular, because that can be used multiple times. Rarely are stencils made of wood or metal, as they are simply too inflexible. The template is now applied to the desired part of the vehicle. It is important that the stencil is properly attached, so that it does not slip during later work, thus ruining the image. If the template is stuck, the paint can be applied with different methods. Classical are airbrush pistols, because they allow an even distribution. Also, brushes / Stupfpinsel or spray cans are allowed. When graffiti oil chalk can be used. Of course, the color is applied only on the surfaces that have recesses. After the order, the template is removed. To create a larger image, artists use multiple templates.

Suitable for all vehicles

If you choose the right color and a suitable stencil, you can implement the technology for each vehicle. Not important, whether car, truck or motorcycle. Even the application on boat sides is possible, if a waterproof color was chosen. It makes sense if the motif is sprayed over again with clear lacquer later to make that weather-resistant. So the big advantage of the stencil is that you can let your creativity run wild without having any artistic talents. Even newbies in the field allow the stencils fast results. But before that you should practice the process on a board or sheet.
