Tuning does not have to be expensive! So you can save on tuning.

[Display]

There was a time when auto-tuning focused primarily on those models and brands driven by young motorsport-loving car owners. That has shifted. Although there are models like VW Golf, Opel Astra, Ford Fiesta and Focus still in focus. Nevertheless, a growing tuning scene has developed around other vehicle models. Vehicle classes such as SUVs and lifestyle models such as Mini, VW Tiguan or Ford Mustang were particularly affected. But tuning doesn't have to be expensive. We dealt with how to save on tuning. These are the cheapest options with the greatest effect when it comes to autotuning!

Engine tuning / sports air filters and inserts

Tuning does not have to be expensive! So you can save on tuning.

One of the classics Air Filter, It is available as an open air filter and as an insert for the air filter box. The pores are slightly larger than conventional air filters. These filters use special oils to filter dirt particles. This leads to a larger air intake volume and thus an additionally improved combustion. Depending on the model, eight to ten percent increase in performance can be demonstrated on the dynamometer. Only branded products should be purchased. These are more expensive. As a long-term investment, however, they can be used over the entire life of the car if they are properly maintained and cared for. Branded sports air filters increase the value of the vehicle. Complementary products are Cold air inlets, Branded products should also be preferred here. Air is drawn in by the engine in waves. The length is calculated precisely for high-quality cold air inlets.

Chip Boxes / Tuning Box / Powerbox

Give a negative example Chip boxes They pretend certain situations and data to the control unit so that the control unit reacts with appropriate adjustments. Certain components of the engine are overused. Turbochargers become too hot, especially with extremely cheap products of around € 100, the less optimal ignition point leads to hot combustion in the catalytic converter (too fatty mixtures). A chip box in the car can significantly reduce the value of the sale if you have NOT chosen a well-known manufacturer.

Chassis tuning

A classic area of auto tuning is chassis tuning. In the series suspension, compromises between driving comfort and sportiness are made for car owners with different needs (good road holding in extreme situations). Chassis tuning is aimed at a tight, really motorsport-oriented driving behavior: the vehicle lies better on the road in bends, but the driver feels more bumps on the ground. Another part of the chassis tuning is the lowering of the vehicle for aerodynamic reasons. Cup sport suspensions or coilovers are the result. These are available with manual, electrical and electronic settings. The inexpensive alternatives to this are lowering springs and sports shock absorbers, which can be installed independently of each other. Real sports suspensions from brand manufacturers have a price-increasing effect, the conversion of individual components tends not to, or only in exceptional cases.

Wheel tuning / rim tuning

The bike tuning is part of the chassis tuning. It includes special rims and more sporty tires. These include stainless steel rims with chrome on SUVs and off-road vehicles, light alloy rims and wider tires with a smaller cross-section. A consequence of this are larger rims up to 20 inches and more. This classic tuning measure is offered by many car manufacturers ex works. In the past, alloy wheels were considered lighter than steel rims in motorsport. This difference has now disappeared due to modern manufacturing techniques. However, alloy wheels are considered the absolute minimum tuning. Alloy rims from established brand manufacturers can even gain in value. Wheel tuning includes spacers, for example to fake wider tires. They represent the alternative to expensive wide tires or are used when wider tires cannot be fitted.

Body tuning

It is a sensible measure from the brand manufacturer. Body tuning is a wide range. It ranges from the effect painting to the front and rear spoilers to the comprehensive body kit. Here, vehicles are given the sporty finish optically. For a good effect, other measures such as sports rear silencers, alloy wheels with wide tires and lowering are required.
